Patients, staff join forces in three-day water, energy-saving drive as part of ongoing sustainability programme
Dubai, UAE, 4 June, 2015: Patients have joined management, doctors, nurses and other members of staff at Zulekha Hospital to mark World Environment Day in a series of initiatives to save energy and water.
Over three days, the Zulekha multidisciplinary hospitals in Dubai and Sharjah have actively embraced the “Think Green, Stay Green” environmental drive as part of an ongoing sustainability programme.
Energy, water and environmental efficiency tips circulated around the wards and all hospital departments in the build-up to World Environment Day tomorrow (Friday) brought an enthusiastic response.
Rounding off the initiative, patrons joined management and staff at a tree planting ceremony outside Zulekha Hospital in Sharjah to symbolise the commitment to environmental care by Zulekha Healthcare Group.

“We have set our standards very high by being a leading sustainable hospital, a member of the Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority energy team, and also by publishing the first GRI report by a healthcare group in UAE.”
“To commemorate World Environment Day we embarked on a series of committed initiatives with our patrons and staff, together taking the pledge to save our planet earth for the sake of future generations.”
Added Shams: “Our engineering department did a great job in spearheading the water and energy saving initiative and we thank our patients and staff for responding so positively.”
