27 October 2013 - Smartworld, a leading master systems integrator and next generation ICT service provider in the Middle East, bagged the ‘Editors Choice Award for Pioneering Projects' at this year's edition of the Arabian Computer News (ACN) Arab Technology Awards, held recently at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Dubai. The company was cited for its successful track record of innovative deployments across major UAE projects, particularly its recent completion of the new IT system for the Al Maktoum International Airport (AMIA) and for the installation and implementation of a Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) network in Dubai World Central (DWC)--the Middle East region's first-of-its-kind ‘Open and Equal Access' network. Earlier this year, the company also won the ‘Best Managed Service Provider of the Year' enterprise category at Network Middle East Awards 2013, which was held in May at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers in Dubai.

According to Smartworld senior executives, the company was recognized for implementation of a Wide CNE/SCN/WDN & SD PROJECT at the AMIA. The scope of the project included the implementation of Airport Infrastructure Cabling Structure; Fully redundant and secure Airport Network; Airport Wireless System; Airport Service Desk and Network Node Management System. The company was also lauded for its completion of the GPON network at DWC, which has positioned the world's first purpose-built aerotropolis and strategic initiative of the Government of Dubai into the ranks of prestigious gigabit capable precincts of the world and provide Next Generation Network (NGN) capabilities to ICT users in DWC.
