Dubai Health Authority Launches Innovative Initiative to Promote Health Awareness in Government Institutions
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, February 18, 2025: Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has launched the 'Government of Dubai Health Experts Network' initiative to enhance health awareness among government employees in the emirate. The initiative aims to train a select group of government employees to become health experts, enabling them to spread health knowledge and awareness within their workplaces and communities while educating their colleagues on effective preventive practices that contribute to overall health security.
The launch of this initiative reflects DHA’s commitment to developing innovative solutions and sustainable strategies that strengthen the role of government institutions in promoting health awareness, ultimately fostering a healthier and happier society.
50 Hours of Training Over One Year
The training program, spanning a full year and comprising 50 training hours, equips participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively communicate health awareness within their workplaces. It includes specialized theoretical and practical workshops covering public health, disease prevention, health communication skills, as well as first-aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as part of the 'Dubai Healthy Heart City' initiative, and psychological first-aid under the mental health initiative.
Dr Hend Al Awadhi, Head of Health Promotion and Education at DHA’s Public Health Department, emphasised the significance of the initiative, which has been designed with a comprehensive approach to strengthening public health. The initiative focuses on promoting healthy lifestyles and empowering government employees to serve as health experts capable of sharing health knowledge with their colleagues in engaging and impactful ways.
She highlighted that the initiative plays a crucial role in fostering institutional integration by linking government entities with health initiatives, thereby creating healthier and more productive work environments. This, in turn, enhances the role of government bodies in supporting Dubai’s strategic public health objectives.
Dr. Al Awadhi stated that the initiative, led by the Public Health Protection Department at DHA, will be implemented in structured phases to ensure long-term impact. A health coordinator has been appointed in each government entity based on specific criteria to ensure participants' readiness and ability to disseminate health knowledge within their respective workplaces and communities.
Furthermore, DHA will conduct regular follow-ups with participants after the training program concludes to assess the practical application of acquired knowledge within government institutions. This will be achieved through surveys and evaluation reports that measure the initiative’s impact on workplace environments and the overall increase in health awareness among employees.
