Roger Dubuis CEO Jean-Marc Pontroué and legendary supermodel Stephanie Seymour recently hosted guests at a private dinner at the brand new Thompson Miami Beach hotel, in partnership with Dom Pérignon and Haute Living. One hundred notable guests convened at the newly opened property to view the Velvet Haute Couture limited edition collection and to toast Ms. Seymour as the Velvet collection’s new muse. The stylish affair featured an intimate crowd of fashionable A-listers such as Russell Simmons, Jonathan Cheban, Geoff Stults and Klaus Biesenbach of MoMA.
The 1930’s House and Garden on the Thompson Miami Beach property proved to be the perfect backdrop to the luxurious event, an impactful and stunning setting designed to evoke the spirit of the Roger Dubuis Diva. Guests were treated to a surprise performance from speed painter Franck Bouroullec in the adjacent garden, before mingling late into the tropical night with music provided by style maven and DJ Hannah Bronfman.
Art Basel Miami
This year marks the 13th edition of Art Basel, the most prestigious art show in the Americas. Over the course of the week, Miami is taken over by special exhibitions, performance art, public art projects and video art. For the third year in a row, Roger Dubuis hosted an exclusive private dinner at Art Basel as it proved an exceptional environment to celebrate the artistic creativity of the Manufacture.
The evening highlighted the brand new Velvet Haute Couture collection, a limited edition trio within the iconic Velvet ladies collection from Roger Dubuis. All of the models in the Velvet collection have defined audacious horlogerie for glamorous women with their distinguishable design characteristics such as the graphic split-level dials and dynamic numerals tapering toward the center. The Velvet Haute Couture is an extravagant and alluring expression of the Velvet family, combining Haute Horlogerie and Haute Couture. As the face of the Velvet collection, Ms. Seymour was on hand along with her husband Peter Brant to present the striking trilogy to guests. Images from the glamorous campaign shot by renowned fashion photographer Mikael Jansson were on display along with Dom Pérignon Iris van Herpen special edition bottles, adding to the haute couture mood of the evening.
“We are pleased to celebrate Roger Dubuis at Art Basel Miami for the third consecutive year by highlighting the exceptional work of art that is the Velvet Haute Couture collection,” says CEO Jean-Marc Pontroué. “This exclusive trilogy is demonstrative of the unconventional, daring nature of our fine watchmaking brand. It is this bold essence which makes Stephanie the perfect embodiment for this collection.”
As guests entered the historic 1930’s revival house, they were greeted by a champagne fountain flowing with Dom Pérignon, which set the festive tone for the lavish cocktail party inside. Guests were immersed in the incredible world of the Roger Dubuis Diva, before being invited by Mr. Pontroué into the lush garden for dinner, where the cuisine was presented artfully under the seagrape trees hung with crystal chandeliers and glowing with candlelight.
The highlight of the evening included a spectacular surprise: a live presentation by artist-performer Franck Bouroullec. Bouroullec dazzled the crowd as he in a surge of exhilarating energy and speed brought to life a portrait of Stephanie Seymour from the Roger Dubuis Velvet Haute Couture campaign on a large-format canvas.
After the decadent dinner, guests retreated back into the house to enjoy dessert and vintage-inspired craft cocktails, while DJ Hannah Bronfman kept the crowd going late into the evening.
