Mythical & Sophisticated: the Autumn/Winter Leather Collection 2013/14 from Aigner

Wonderfully wild and romantic, that's Island. The island's breathtaking natural exuberance was the source of inspiration for the new Autumn/Winter Leather Collection from Aigner. The country's untouched beauty, its unique architecture and pristine nature prompted the Munich-based company to let this character-rich landscape flow into the designs of the new collection.

This journey also led into exploring the realms of Nordic myths and legends: a fantasy world rooted in nature that inspired the designs in the new leather collection in the same way as it inspired Jim Henson's films, ‘The Dark Crystal' or ‘Labyrinth', starring David Bowie.

This mystical world and the Island's natural spectacles were a great influence on the Autumn/Winter 2013/14 collection from the luxury leather brand Aigner and shaped the look of their elegant accessories. The collection is an inter play of matt and shiny patterns. Rough and coarse leather structures emulate the feel of Island's natural environment and reinterpret it. Evocations of the ground's surfaces, of rocks or tree bark for instance. Particularly effective are primarily the over-sized croc or turtle prints as well as the crinkle style leather goods.

Opposites attract: Head Designer Christian Beck deliberately plays up the contrast between warm and cold – and accentuates the feminine, the soft and the mysterious. It is a lively play with the elements – primordial and natural, and at the same time mystical, too.

The colour range reflects this as well: strong, saturated colours including aqua hues, natural or earth colours that are reminders of the worlds of myths and legends – from lapis to purple, and even including delicate porcelain hues. In the Autumn/Winter 2013/14 collection Aigner's hallmark colour, Chianti red, is again the absolute highlight.

The love of leather shows also in the creative and astonishing details of the luxury handbags: one of the highlights is the floral reinterpretation of the Fair-Isle-Pattern, which is here not Nordic and ice-cold, but instead presents itself in a flowery and mystical guise. Fur and knitted details or elaborate leather weaving make the new handbag creations true must-have items. A touch of luxury is gained from elegant metal elements in light gold. Whether as twist lock, zip or latch closure – all closures are adorned with the characteristic Aigner horseshoe logo.

The bags come in typical Aigner shapes: distinct and significant. The Munich leather lifestyle brand remains true to its traditional craftsmanship and in this season, too, attaches great importance to finest quality leather, first-class workmanship and modern design. Classics, such as the “All In” or “Icon Cover” are given a new lease of life with new creative elements. The result: exclusive leather designs that combine tradition and innovation in a rather special way: sometimes the look is traditional and clean, sometimes it is sophisticated, at other times it is pure femininity.

The Autumn/Winter Leather Collection 2013/14 is divided into three themes or colour segments:

ARCTIC NYMPH
A cool and clear water world with many blue and cognac colour tones: fox, doe, volcano, Nordic blue, polar blue and porcelain.

CHILDLIKE EMPRESS
A wild-romantic fairytale world with warm moss and berry tones: moss, dove, mermaid, alabaster, beetroot, lupine and lapis.

UNWRITTEN SAGA
A world of fables in earthy-forestry colour nuances: fox, doe, moss, Chianti red, porcelain.

Highlights of the Autumn/Winter Collection 2013/14

„All In“

The Aigner Classic has been given a new look. The shopper with short handles and the striking Aigner logo presents itself here in a noble turtle print leather.

„Empress“

Whether trapezoid city bag, mini bag or pouch format: This is the must-have bag for fashionistas. Novel detail of this newly interpreted frame bag: a fob made from hare fur.

„Fellow Bag“

Stylish companion: this sack-like bag takes up the box-type bag trend, alas with a new twist. Functional fashion: this handbag may also be worn like a rucksack.

„XL Zip“

Rough, matt leather is the hallmark of this purist handbag in the shape of a bowling bag, adorned with elaborate leather details.
