The beauty of giving Ramadan gift is bringing joy to others…near and far. The Body Shop fragrance and gift collections feature the highest-quality, naturally inspired ingredients, sourced from around the globe through its pioneering Community Fair Trade programme. By giving a gift from The Body Shop, you're helping to support the lives of 300,000 farmers, artisans and their communities. That's something to celebrate.
Organic Sugar Cane Essence: Ecuador
Many of The Body Shop fragrances feature Community Fair Trade organic sugar cane essence, a precious ingredient sourced from the CADO co-operative in the Cotopaxi province of Ecuador. In this remote, beautifully lush yet challenging part of the country, Community Trade offers the farmers the chance to access a fair and reliable market, giving stability to the community and providing a sustainable future.
Found In: Love Etc…™ Sun Kiss Eau de Toilette – this fruity floral fragrance evokes summer love.
Marula Oil: Namibia
The Body Shop Community Fair Trade marula oil is sourced from the Eudafano Women's Cooperative in Namibia. This trade has enabled more than 1,750 female entrepreneurs to build their own factory, helping them gain economic independence and a new-found self-esteem.
Found In: Black Intense Eye Collection – for dramatically eye-catching eyes.
Beeswax: Cameroon
The Body Shop Community Fair Trade beeswax is supplied by Guide D'Espoir in Cameroon. It comes from the remote Adamaoua region, where farmers harvest it from hives handcrafted from bamboo. This traditional method of beekeeping helps promote strong, healthy bees and deters logging.
Found In: Born Lippy™ Lip Balm –lips love this little pot of colour, flavour and moisture.
Honey: Ethiopia
The Body Shop Community Fair Trade honey is sourced from the remote Sheka rainforest in the Ethiopian highlands, a biodiversity hotspot that's protected by UNESCO. This wild-harvested floral honey is good for your skin and good for the environment. Our trade gives the beekeepers a precious source of income, encouraging them to preserve the rainforest. No wonder we think of it as liquid gold.
Found In: Strawberry Shower Gel – lather up with this sweet-scented shower wash.
Soya Oil: Brazil
The Body Shop Community Fair Trade soya oil comes from the Capanema Farmers of Brazil. Using traditional, organic growing methods, they hand-harvest and press the soya beans to extract the oil. This trade has helped finance a training programme for the co-op's 150+ members, giving them new skills in organic farming and water preservation.
Found In: Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Butter – enjoy round-the-clock hydration with a cherry blossom scent.
Shea Butter: Ghana
The Body Shop Community Fair Trade shea butter comes from Ghana. Local women hand-harvest shea nuts, dry them in the sun and crack them to extract the kernels. These are roasted and ground into a paste to make the butter. Trade with the Tungteiya Women's Shea Butter Association has helped them to fund three medical centres and 10 nursery schools.
Found In: Indian Night Jasmine Body Lotion – this luscious lotion is infused with an oriental fragrance.

That's why, last year, it launched its Dragon Fruit Lip Butter- the first The Body Shop product that allows you to support a charity of your choice. Why not give this super-moisturising lip treat to a loved-one as part of your Ramadan celebrations? The beauty of your gift is that it will give back to a fantastically worthwhile cause. (And don't forget to buy a Lip Butter for yourself!)
Bringing Beauty and Heart together in a unique way, Dragon Fruit Lip Butter lets everyone become real beauty activists. And the support The Body Shop fans have given this initiative is astonishing. Since the launch in 2012, The Body Shop has:

Your Lips, Your Voice, Your Vote!
For every sale of The Body Shop Foundation Dragon Fruit Lip Butter, 100% of the profits go to a chosen charity which operates in Human Rights, Animal Protection or Environmental Protection. And the best thing about it? You get to choose which of three charities you want to support through a unique voting mechanic. You get soft, shiny lips AND have your say. Now that's Beauty with Heart.
1,2,3 Activism!
BUY
Buy a deliciously zesty, superbly moisturising Dragon Fruit Lip Butter for lips that are super-soft. For every purchase you make, you get one token. Each token represents the profits from the sale of the Lip Butter.

Take your token to the voting box, which has three separate slots, each one for a different local charity. Vote for the charity you want to support by dropping your token into one of the slots. The choice is yours.
VOTE

The Body Shop Foundation
The Body Shop Foundation is the charitable trust of The Body Shop International, and is a truly visionary organisation that stands head and shoulders above the rest. Here, Lisa Jackson, CEO of The Body Shop Foundation, tells us about the launch of Dragon Fruit Lip Butter and why it's been a worldwide success.
Why do you think Dragon Fruit Lip Butter has been so successful?
Giving people the opportunity to choose the charity that benefits means that people feel really involved in what we're doing and see the impact on a local level. We think this is a huge contributing factor. The Dragon Fruit Lip Butter is not only delicious and super moisturising (which is good for your lips) but it's also changing the world for good too!
In what way do the funds support the charities?
The bulk of the money raised through the sale of the product stay at local level, having a positive lasting impact on the local groups, but a small part of the money comes back to the Foundation pot, allowing us to identify and fund global pressing issues - some which have no boundary (like child trafficking) or in some countries in which The Body Shop doesn't trade. Through the sale of Dragon Fruit Lip Butter and our own fundraising activities, we're able to help MORE groups – in fact, we supported an incredible 180 charities this year - an increase of 60 projects helped from last year!
Are there any particular success stories you can tell us about?
Well, each of the groups in question is very special and relevant to the markets that selected them but the real success of the Dragon Fruit Lip Butter is the sheer global impact of this funding. Because of the support of staff and customers alike, we're able to change laws, change habitats and change lives. It's a true team effort with long-lasting positive impact and everyone who took part - in whatever way - should feel rightly proud of what its achieved. Thank you!
