Dubai Sports Council boosts Opportunities of the Uses of Artificial Intelligence in Sport
Dubai Sports Council (DSC) continues its hard efforts to enhance the eminent role of artificial intelligence in the sports field in Dubai, based on the Directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai & Chairman of Executive Council, to accelerate the procedures of the adoption of artificial intelligence & development of the current innovative solutions as a main factor to meet the wise vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the Vice President & Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aiming to convert the Emirate of Dubai into a global center for the development & adoption of the artificial intelligence solutions & applications.
In this regard, a delegation of decision makers and representatives of international companies, specialized in the sports artificial intelligence & headed by Microsoft Co., visited Hamdan Sports Complex.
The delegation composed of prominent members who participated in Dubai International Artificial Intelligence Forum in Sport, held recently in Dubai.
The visit was part of DSC’s endeavors to boost the great success in the uses of artificial intelligence to develop the sports facilities in the world, as artificial intelligence has attained a dramatic jump in the quality of services and the level of benefiting from the data, TV telecasting, marketing, promotion & other services provided to participants, viewers & fans in the international sports events.
The delegation was acquainted with technical & logistic abilities and various technologies in the Complex besides the programs of camps of clubs & national teams during both the last & coming periods. The delegation also reviewed the events’ agenda for the upcoming stage, as the Complex has been designed in such way that makes it able to host various sports events & world championships. The Complex comprises several training sections to help clubs & national teams attain their goals, as they prefer to organize training camps in Dubai to provide unique opportunities for their players to visit this fascinating city, enjoy its tourist & prosperous landmarks and train in its sports facilities of the top world-standards.
The delegation’s members also visited the Complex’s facilities which are designed according to the best international specifications / accurate planning / eco-friendly technologies used to enhance sustainability. They attended an explanation on the planning styles / great sports events organization management / innovation in the enhancement of athletes’ performance, safety, distinctive experiences / available potentialities which provide integration & variety among multi-sports and accommodate greatest numbers of championships. The Complex is equipped with the most advanced training equipment and digital infra-structure.
The delegation’s visit was part of the events of Dubai International Artificial Intelligence in Sport, organized by DSC with participation of elite of decision makers in the global technology & artificial intelligence; top of whom were: and Mr. Sebastian Lancestremere, Director of Sports Management & Strategic Partnerships at Microsoft / Mr. Armand Penaud, Director of Enterprises Development in the Global Sports Innovation Center / Mr. Iñigo Bonilla Manager of Development at Sportian Co., which functions in data & figure analysis in the Spanish Football League “LaLiga” & specialized in sports artificial intelligence / officials in several other companies, specialized in this scope

H.E. Naser Aman Al-Rahma, the Assistant Secretary General of DSC, stated: “The organization of Dubai International Artificial Intelligence Forum in Sport in collaboration with leading global companies, topped by Microsoft, is a continuation of the wise leadership’s policy, and based on the Directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai & Chairman of Executive Council, to accelerate the procedures of adoption of artificial intelligence & development of the current innovative solutions as a main factor to meet the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the Vice President & Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aiming to convert the Emirate of Dubai into a global center for the development & adoption of the artificial intelligence solutions & applications. The Forum was also organized as part of the Directives of H.H. Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the Chairman of DSC, with respect to the adoption of applications & solutions of artificial intelligence in the sports sector. This Forum is also considered as a continuation of DSC’s efforts to boost the eminent role of artificial intelligence in sport, as the Council organized in 2019 Dubai Sports Artificial Intelligence Conference & Exhibition (DAIS) the first of its kind in the region, which was held under title “Together to create Sports Future”, and with participation of more than 50 experts & specialists from 30 countries from all over the world, specialized in sport & artificial intelligence and participated in more than 25 workshops & sessions, during which they reviewed their global experiences in this vital field.
He added: “Such forums develop the level of awareness with the uses of artificial intelligence whether in the field of collection & analysis of data or in the presentation of development solutions that promoting performance & utmost benefit of its abilities regarding TV telecasting, sponsorships, marketing, relations with fans and all technologies which promote the quality of telecasting. These forums also unveil the development horizons in this field alongside the respective challenges. Our world witnesses rapid development. The UAE is one of the leading countries around the world which follows artificial intelligence method & utilizes its technology as per accredited channels comprising experts & specialists of competence & excellence”.
H.E. Naser Al-Rahma confirmed DSC’s keenness to make the sports sector in Dubai the first in adopting the procedures of applying these technical solutions through increasing of the level of the uses of artificial intelligence in the sports sector, whether with regard to the sports facilities or the administrative & technical work. DSC endeavors to attract investments in the sports artificial intelligence particularly with the existing of leading governmental legislations encouraging investments.
H.E. the Assistant Secretary General of DSC concluded: “There is convergence between the visions of DSC & Microsoft Global Co. to enhance the uses of artificial intelligence and its applications in the sports scope in Dubai. We have drawn a map to utilize the sports data in artificial intelligence and to benefit from the high technical abilities for artificial intelligence to develop the various fields in the sports work. We are sure that a great development has occurred to this field, as all factors of success are available for this work which will be as a qualitative step of positive impact during the coming period”.
