Olfactory Artistry meets Modern Art in Kilian Hennessy’s newest, most colorful collection; Sophie Matisse Art Edition, created specifically to honor summer.
This May Kilian Hennessy adds a visual ingredient and collaborative component to his latest, most vibrant launch since establishing his distinguished and intoxicating perfumes in 2007. The collection is available at Paris Gallery stores in the UAE for a limited period.
A true departure from his darker anthology of black & white, these colorful bottles of scented perfection are the result of a partnership between two uniquely artistic individuals: Kilian Hennessy, heir to a long line of Cognac makers and grandson of the founder of the LVMH group, and Sophie Matisse, international contemporary artist and great-granddaughter of Henri Matisse.
“I wanted to offer my customers a fresher interpretation of my two best-selling scents: GOOD GIRL GONE BAD for woman, and STRAIGHT TO HEAVEN for men, as well as repackage my only citrus scent BAMBOO HARMONY,” says Kilian. “These are also pieces of art, and it’s important to be able to interpret “freshness” in a way that is unique in our industry.”
With a flair for design, and a lean toward opulence, Kilian often pushes artistic boundaries by seamlessly blending olfactory experiences with visual conceptions. Like a brilliant fragrant metamorphous, the trio of newly created perfumes are a lighter, softer version of themselves. “Each contemporary and colorful design is inspired by the fragrances contained in the bottle while paying homage to freshness,” Kilian adds. “Sophie managed to capture movement and freedom which are accomplished through the radiant colors and energetic forms.”
The two worked together in 2008 when they released 50 multi-colored, hand-painted, signed and numbered limited edition bottles of Kilian perfumes. The collaboration was incredibly successful and the bottles highly sought after, so the duo has united again to release three reimagined and reinterpreted top-sellers. The team is unveiling a fresh, light, crisp and aesthetically pleasing creation. In doing so, these bottles acknowledge the softness of summer while visually appealing to lovers of haute parfumerie and beautiful objects of art alike.
GOOD GIRL GONE BAD – Splash of Neroli
GOOD GIRL GONE BAD - Splash of Neroli: an orange and pink romantic design with a touch of yellow to illustrate the fresher floral bouquet of its original fragrance, Good Girl Gone Bad.
GOOD GIRL GONE BAD – Splash of Neroli offers a crisp, almost creamy woodsy scent while seductive undertones of white neroli and sandalwood offer rapturous warmth. Additional notes: pure bergamot, jasmine, vetiver and patchouli.
Perfumer: Alberto Morillas
STRAIGHT TO HEAVEN – Splash of Lemon
STRAIGHT TO HEAVEN – Splash of Lemon: this new interpretation of its successful predecessor, Straight to Heaven, white crystal has inspired a blue and green design.
STRAIGHT TO HEAVEN – Splash of Lemon is the perfect pairing of fresh citric lemon and bergamot with a trace of rum. Promising a softer, subtle side than its originator, this version is fresh, light and addictive. Additional notes: patchouli, rosewood and cedarwood, nutmeg, musk, sweet vanilla, and warm amber.
Perfumer: Sidonie Lancesseur
BAMBOO HARMONY
BAMBOO HARMONY: an explosion of colors for Kilian’s mythic fragrance.
BAMBOO HARMONY is a bright, airy, and clean creation of white tea leaves taken from the heart of a bamboo mixed with delicate hints of bergamot, bigarade and neroli. Additional notes: mimosa, touches of spices, fig leaves and oak moss.

Sophie Matisse & Kilian Hennessy biographies
SOPHIE MATISSE
Following in the footsteps of her great-grandfather, Sophie Matisse is an international contemporary artist who gained notoriety for her series Be back in 5 Minutes, in which she recreated famous paintings from great artists’ works such as Leonardo da Vinci, Pablo Picasso, Gustave Courbet, and Alain Jacquet, while omitting the figures. In an artistic reversal of roles, Kilian uses Sophie’s art to reinterpret his new scented collection from preexisting, top-selling scents that have been reformulated.
KILIAN HENNESSY
Since launching his perfume brand, Kilian, in 2007, the heir to a long line of Cognac makers has consistently declared his fragrances to be unisex. His ambition was to place perfumery back on its pedestal by referring back to the way it was made in the early 20th century, but with a contemporary twist. Like a filmmaker begins with a script, Kilian begins with a story and a name before creating the fragrance to embody the tale. His “eco-luxe” philosophy, that each bottle can be refilled and kept for a lifetime, creating less waste for the planet, catapulted the brand to the top of the fragrance market and into a niche of its very own. Since the launch of L’Oeuvre Noire in 2007, Kilian has introduced four additional collections: Arabian Nights, Asian Tales, In the Garden of Good and Evil, and Addictive State of Mind. As the Kilian brand evolves and matures, the one aspect which remains consistent is that each and every product created embodies ultimate sophistication and timeless luxury. In the past, Kilian fragrances were made in collaboration with perfumers Calice Becker, Sidonie Lancesseur, Fabrice Pellegrin, and Alberto Morillas.
