Abu Dhabi, 5 September 2017: Premier Motors, one of the leading automobile dealerships in Abu Dhabi, is supporting the 2017 International Paralympic Committee (IPC) General Assembly and Conference as its exclusive automotive partner.
The 2017 event will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, from 3 – 9 September in Abu Dhabi with the Conference being held from 5 - 6 September and the General Assembly from 7 - 8 September.
Speaking about the sponsorship, Helal Hanei Omar, Vice-President, Premier Motors said: “It is an honour for Premier Motors to be associated with the IPC event being held in the UAE for the first time. We are pleased to support the Abu Dhabi government’s tireless efforts in positioning the UAE capital as the Middle East’s preferred destination for international sporting events. Premier Motors has a history of supporting sporting events in the UAE including horse racing, horse and camel endurance races, traditional sports, tennis, golf and polo, to name just a few. Some of the recent events it has supported include the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championships as well as all the Polo tournaments held by the Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club in 2016-17. The dealership has also been one of the sponsors of the Al Jazira Football Club for the past six years.
The General Assembly is the supreme authority of the IPC which meets every two years. It last met in November 2015 in Mexico City, Mexico, whilst the last IPC Governing Board elections took place in 2013 when the event was staged in Athens, Greece.
The 2017 IPC General Assembly will have extra significance as elections for the IPC Governing Board and IPC President and Vice President will take place on Friday, 8 September. The newly elected President will be the third since the IPC was formed in 1989.
