Dubai, United Arab Emirates – 5th August 2013 – Xerox Emirates, a member of the Mohamed Hareb Al Otaiba group, gives back to local and global causes throughout the holy month of Ramadan. Beginning with the launch of their “Supporting you. Supporting them” Facebook Campaign and ending with the “Better Day Every Day” CSR Iftar in partnership with Dubai Municipality and Dar Al Ber Society that took place at Al Hamriya park on Thursday 1st August 2013.
Starting the holy month with a call to action to all their Facebook fans, Xerox Emirates requested that the local community nominate a charity or a community cause or project of their choice and post it on Xerox Emirates' Facebook page. Fans had to highlight the cause's objective in addition to raising awareness among their community. The post that generated the most discussion and awareness would receive financial support in the amount of AED3,000 as well as Xerox memorabilia from Xerox Emirates.
On Sunday 28th July 2013 Xerox Emirates announced two winners, Noor Dubai Foundation's mobile eye camp in Ethiopia as well as Sonam Sherpa in collaboration with Himalayan Care Foundation's project to build a new school where 20 disabled children get food, care and education. Both causes deserved the full support and to be selected to win, with Noor Dubai Foundation's mobile eye camp's mission to prevent blindness and visual impairment globally and Sonam Sherpa together with Himalayan Care Foundation's aid for children to have access to education, by building schools, raising funds, and changing mindsets on disabled people's capabilities and achievements.
In alliance with Dubai Municipality and Dar Al Ber Society the “Better Day Every Day” campaign consisted of gift packs that were purchased, donated and prepared by Xerox Emirates employees and were distributed at Al Hamriya Park to Dubai Municipality Labourers on Thursday 1st August at 7pm, alongside an Iftar provided by Dar Al Ber Society. The gift packs consisted of; tissue boxes, shampoos, soaps, tooth pastes, tooth brushes, shaving kits, washing detergents , cotton buds and deodorant, to name a few items.
“Xerox Emirates wanted to highlight the effort, dedication and commitment of all of those who work hard at keeping Al Hamriya Park clean and green despite the hot weather and sometimes harsh circumstances by showing them that their hard work was not going by unnoticed” stated Andrew Horne, General Manager, Xerox Emirates. “All of us at Xerox Emirates are dedicated on making a difference and aim to do so by aligning our organization with the community's needs as a result generating positive social impacts.
