Dubai, 29 July 2013 – Leaders from the Arabian water and power industry are confirmed to speak at the 2nd Arabian Water & Power Forum, taking place 23-25 September 2013 at the Address Hotel, Dubai Marina, held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum. Industry experts include H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and H.E. Ahmed Al Muhairbi, Secretary General, Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), who will help to identify demand and supply challenges in Arabia's power and water sector, with the specific aim of formulating solutions and identifying investment needed to boost supply.

“Water and power are concerns that resonate throughout the Middle East in the face of water scarcity and the energy requirements of a burgeoning population coupled with resurgent economic activity. The supply-demand challenges posed are complex because they extend across a diversity of sectors and public sector bodies. The Arabian Water and Power Forum will gather decision makers in the industry who have the ability to influence investments and regulations, and work towards sustainable solutions,” said Gurpreet Hayre, Producer of the Arabian Water & Power Forum at The CWC Group.

Sustainable energy and the Middle Eastern government's role in defining energy security will be key discussions throughout the 3 day Forum and workshop. Sessions focused on policy and regulation development for energy efficiency and sustainability, and current developments in power and water to identify supply-demand gaps, will support this key discussion with specific focus on energy sources including hybrid energy, gas power, cost-effective fuel diversification and solar power generation.

Further distinguished speakers from across the Arabian water and power sector include: H.E. Dr Saleh Alawaji, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Saudi Electricity Company & Deputy Minister for Electricity; H.E. Dr Madani Alaqi, Chairman, SHUQAIQ Water and Electricity Company; Omar Al Wahaibi, CEO, Electricity Holding Company & Board Member, Public Authority of Electricity and Water Oman, Taher Diab, Director Strategy & Planning, Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Suhaila Marafi, Director of Studies & Research, Kuwait Ministry of Electricity & Water, Abdullah Obaidullah, Executive Vice President, (Water & Civil) DEWA, Gerhard Scheffer, Vice President, Siemens and Ahmed Al-Mazoury, General Manager, Majan Electricity Company.

“The aim is to create an event that not only closes the gap between supply and demand, but also allows delegates to be the first to hear of investment opportunities in water, power, hybrid and nuclear energy,” said Frederic Ponton, Director Government Relations Middle East, CWC Group. “The quality of the speakers involved, and the unique solutions-focus of the event means makes it an absolute must-attend for any stakeholder in power and water,” concluded Ponton.

The CWC Group's Arabian Water & Power Forum will examine the sustainable development of the water and power sector across the Arabian Gulf region, by debating and developing new policies and strategies for stimulating innovation. The annual Forum is the meeting place for key government and industry leaders interested in and currently involved in the Middle East energy sector.
