Lootah urges participants to contribute to the successful hosting of Expo 2020
Dubai, UAE (June 29, 2013) In the context of its relentless endeavours to diffuse facility management concepts at the local and regional levels, Imdaad, the leading UAE provider of integrated facility management solutions, has accorded the platinum sponsorship to the World FM Video Conference held on June 27th, 2013.
This conference provided an interactive platform bringing together members of the Middle East Facility Management Association (MEFMA) and key influential figures in the facility management industry to discuss the latest emerging trends, key potential challenges, and the promising prospects at the local & international levels, particularly as estimates indicate that the facility management sector in the GCC region will be worth more than 33 billion dirhams by 2014.
The President of the MEFMA and CEO of Imdaad, Jamal Abdullah Lootah, said in a statement to the conference: This event offers a unique opportunity for discussing the challenges confronting the facility management sector, and exchanging views about revamping this industry; which is ushering a new era marked by a revolutionized urbanization concept at the regional and international levels.
The FM industry needs to raise its standards in two key areas : training and minimum wage. An emphasis on the on-going training is essential in order to establish and maintain excellence and this should be discussed with all FM players as a collective effort. The minimum wage for certain categories is another discussion that will be taking place with the concerned government authorities. These two fundamental topics will significantly affect the Middle East FM industry particularly in the GCC.
In a related development, Lootah urged all participants to provide moral & logistical support in order to boost the UAE bid for hosting the World Expo 2020, particularly as its bid has gone far and wide in this regard. Winning the privilege of hosting this global event will have dividends that spread all over sectors including businesses which provide integrated FM solutions.
Lootah stressed that Imdaad, driven by its responsibility for national issues that boost the social & economic development, will spare no effort in proving the required support to contribute to the success of this event.
“The urban development experienced by the Middle East, particularly the GCC countries, which have managed to get out of the global crisis that started in 2008, warrants us to be realistic in coping with the successive chain of events.
“From this viewpoint, we, in the FM sector, have to gear up for the next stage as the future challenges we are bound to face will not be easy, and the services we deliver are mostly associated with the environmental standards & stipulations,” he continued.
“Maintaining a sustainable environment under the prevailing urban expansion coupled with the excessive and rising use of natural resources have added to the current problems saddling the earth; which makes it imperative for us to intensify efforts in a bid to develop sophisticated technologies and harness them for our daily jobs, besides developing lasting solutions & strategies aligned with the needs of our clients,” added Lootah.
It is worth mentioning that MEFMA provides a specialist platform for boosting effective communications between experts and specialists in the FM industry along with the stakeholders in the building & construction sector, and Property Owners Associations. The Association partners with the pioneers of the FM Sector in undertaking sustainable development strategies over the long run, delivering best-in-class services, and protecting assets with a view to realizing highest return on investment rates.
