Dubai, 4th July 2013: The UAE Minister of Health, Dr Abdul Rahman Mohammad Al Owais today inaugurated Burjeel Hospital for Advanced Surgery and Tarabichi's Centre for Joint Surgery in Dubai. The advanced hospital is the region's foremost specialised orthopaedics centre which will eliminate the need for patients with complicated bone and orthopaedic conditions to travel to Europe or the United States and will drive a wave of medical tourism to Dubai. The launch ceremony saw the Minister cut the inauguration ribbon and tour the hospital alongside His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Haj Al Maidoor, Director-General, Dubai Health Authority; accompanied by Dr Samih Tarabichi, Director General and Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, Managing Director of Burjeel Hospitals.
Burjeel Hospitals and Dr Samih Tarabichi, the Middle East and North Africa's foremost orthopaedic and joint replacement surgeon, have partnered to create this new centre of excellence for orthopaedics and joint replacement in the Middle East. It offers advanced surgical methodologies including Personalised Joint Creation, Patient Specific Instrumentation and Advanced Prosthetics in a five-star environment and utilising state-of-the-art technology to facilitate online patient scheduling and real time patient case updates. The 35-bed hospital off Sheikh Zayed Road has three operating theatres designed to perform 2,500 orthopaedics procedures annually and has state-of-the-art investigative equipment including advanced CT and MRI scans.
