Abu Dhabi-UAE: 25 June, 2013 - Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) held an awareness workshop for representatives of government and private entities in the Western Region. The workshop raised awareness on the Council's service offerings and highlighted its strong collaboration with specialized authorities to ensure the well-being of the community in the emirate. The workshop also stressed on the development and certified use of the QCC Trust Mark to authenticate the safety requirements of a product.
The half day workshop was held today at the Tilal Liwa Hotel drawing over 100 participants.
His Excellency Engineer Hussain Salem Al Katheeri, Secretary General, QCC, said: “The workshop falls in line with our commitment to further develop the emirate's quality infrastructure even while educating the community on quality standards and consumer safety. In addition, such initiatives contribute to achieving our vision of distinguishing Abu Dhabi from cities around the world through the establishment of a fully integrated quality infrastructure. At QCC, we continuously seek to set and adopt high quality standards across varied industry sectors in Abu Dhabi.”
As part of the workshop, His Excellency Anas Jawdat Al Barguthi, Executive Director of Consumer and Market Services at QCC, delivered a presentation on the Council's services, mission, objective and achievements. The presentation also highlighted the Council's collaboration with regulators in the Western Region and the importance of partnering with prominent entities. Sultan Hamoud Al Busaidi, a market surveillance specialist, presented the mechanism, objectives and the scope of work of the Market Surveillance Division.
Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council seeks to raise the quality standards of products traded locally and ensure their compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards through the regular monitoring and inspection of the market. In addition, it provides services that correspond to international export standards, in order to help indigenous products penetrate new global markets.
The board of Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council features representatives of a number of regulators that collaborate to draw a roadmap for the development of quality infrastructure, in line with best international standards. The Council also supports regulators through the development and provision of conformity programs that reflect the stringent standards that Abu Dhabi endorses and is reputed for.
