BMG Foundation to Award Winners of ‘Safe Driving…Life Saving' Awareness Campaign at GCC Polo Cup
 

• CSR Campaign Reduces Traffic Accidents and Raises Awareness on Traffic Rules in Saudi Arabia
• Competition Attracts Over 900 Participants

London-UK: 17 June, 2013 – BMG Foundation, a Saudi-based non-governmental organization, has announced the top three winners of its latest competition, a part of its ongoing ‘Safe Driving…Life Saving' campaign that is effectively raising awareness on responsible driving and contributing to reducing the incidence of motor-related deaths in the country.

As part of the competition, which concluded on 5 June, BMG Foundation invited the youth to come up with creative visuals that influence motorists to drive responsibly. Hosted on the Facebook page of BMG Foundation, the contest attracted over 900 participants.

The 10 visuals that received the highest votes from the social network's users were assessed by a panel of judges including Michaal Karam, Managing Director, United Cooperative Assurance Company; Afra Naushad, freelance journalist; Lama Kiyasi, research analyst; Abdel Rahman Banawi, Marketing Manager, Hajji Hussein Alireza, and Dina Garatly from the Visualization Laboratory in  King Abdullah University for Science and Technology (KAUST).

Following a careful evaluation process, Lina Alabbad, Nidaa Al Bukhari and Rabia Babar Khan were declared the winners. Lina Alabbad will be awarded a Geely car by the event's sponsor, while the first runner up Nidaa Al Bukhari receives a Macbook, and the second runner up Rabia Babar Khan an iPad. The winning ideas will also be used as adverts to promote the campaign.

The winners will be flown to London to present their work and receive their award during the GCC Polo Cup, which is scheduled to take place on 19 June at the Guards Polo Club, Windsor, UK. A fund-raising event hosted by BMG Foundation, the GCC Polo Cup offers sponsors a platform to network, discuss the corporate social responsibility mandate, learn about the Foundation's initiatives, and meet the winners of its campaigns. Sponsors are also invited to attend the annual polo match between Guards Polo versus GCC Polo that is held under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The GCC Polo Cup will be inaugurated by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Basil Al Ghalayini, Chairman of BMG Foundation, said: “BMG Foundation's mission is to organize added-value events and impactful initiatives. Our most recent CSR campaigns include ‘Our Water, Our Life' that shed light on the scarce water resources worldwide and especially in Saudi Arabia. As part of the initiative, we invited students across the GCC to share their ideas and create an ad campaign to inspire Arab homes to embrace the culture of water conservation. 

“Through our flagship event, the GCC Polo Cup that was instituted 18 years ago, we seek to bridge the gap between the East and the West and create a better understanding of mutual cultures through sport. Moving a step forward, we are flying the winners of our ‘Safe Driving…Life Saving' campaign to showcase their ideas to our sponsors, as well as business leaders, diplomats and politicians from around the globe.”

Sponsors of this year's competition include Emirates NBD, National Commercial Bank, Burgan Bank, Haji Hussein Alireza and Co. Ltd, Qatar Airways, Sundrop Farms, United Cooperative Assurance Company, APCO Worldwide, BMG Financial Group, Akarone, Sa'aid, and Digital Gateway.
