Promotional Tour Supports Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority's Strategy
Abu Dhabi-UAE: 15 June, 2013 – Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) is gearing up to promote Abu Dhabi as a leading global business tourism destination to top industry decision makers in Korea and Japan during a promotional tour of the two countries.
Organised by the Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau, a body tasked with bolstering the UAE capital's global status as a business tourism hub, the road show will kick-off on 17 June at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Tokyo before moving on to the Plaza Hotel in Seoul, Korea on 19 June.
During the tour, officials from ADNEC and the the Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau will conduct workshops and offer presentations to invited guests, highlighting the emirate's unique selling proposition and competitive advantages as a business destination.
Robin Miller, Sales Director for Conferences and Events, ADNEC, said: “Korea and Japan present huge opportunities for Abu Dhabi and ADNEC in achieving our objective to attract leading meetings, conferences and exhibitions. Both countries continue to demonstrate strong growth in outbound tourism. Our geographical proximity to western markets, while remaining within easy reach of key eastern markets, will serve as a key strategic advantage in raising our profile to these audiences.
“We recognise the role we play in the development of the emirate in line with the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030. Our collaborative approach to attracting the world's leading meetings, conferences, exhibitions and events to Abu Dhabi are testament to our commitment towards this mandate.”
The road show team will comprise 15 senior representatives from 12 high profile entities across Abu Dhabi including Etihad Airways, Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC), Emirates Palace, Anantara Group, Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Villas, City Seasons Group and more.
Earlier this year, ADNEC participated in the Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau's first promotional tour to the US. During the visit, the Abu Dhabi delegation highlighted the advanced infrastructure and integrated facilities that the emirate offers to the American business community. ADNEC also contributed to an industry-specific global workshop organised by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) in Cape Town.
“The success of our first US promotional tour, which attracted over 200 key players from the meetings industry in New York, Chicago and Washington, DC, is a strong indication of the power of such direct engagement,” continued Miller.
“We anticipate that our road shows in Korea and Japan will positively contribute to further growth in the number of corporate visitors to the emirate, besides expanding ADNEC's portfolio of events. Both nations present exciting opportunities for Abu Dhabi's development.”
