Rudolf Molleker wins the Longines Future Tennis Aces 2013 tournament

After a thrilling game, Rudolf Molleker from Germany defeated Carlos Sanchez Jover from Spain. Organised by Longines, Official Timekeeper of Roland-Garros, this tournament took place from May 28th until June 1st. After the final, both young players had the chance to play an exhibition game with Fabrice Santoro, patron of the 2013 tournament and former tennis player Arnaud Clément, friend of the Swiss watch brand. Sabine Lisicki and Ryan Harrison, both members of the Longines Rising Tennis Stars, were there to witness this great moment of tennis. During the prize-giving ceremony, the winner received his trophy from hands of Jean Gachassin, President of the FFT (French Federation of Tennis), just like the winner of Roland-Garros.

The final of the Longines Future Tennis Aces 2013 took place on the frontcourt of the Hôtel de Ville of Paris. This tournament is supported by the FFT and is in compliance with the one at Roland-Garros. The audience saw a great moment of tennis, with the final between Rudolf Molleker (Germany) and Carlos Sanchez Jover (Spain). The German player won in 2 sets 4-1/4-0.

During the semi-finals, Rudolf Molleker and Carlos Sanchez Jover qualified for the final by defeating Marco Furlanetto (Italy) and Arthur Hugounenq (France). The 2013 edition of the Longines Future Tennis Aces started with the Longines Academy. The kids had the chance to practice their game on clay during two days at the Tennis Club de la Châtaigneraie. The sixteen young players aged under 13, from all over the world (Australia, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, U.K. and USA) were able to get to know the surface better and receive precious advices from a coach, Jérôme Golmard and a physical trainer, Remi Barbarin. After two days of intense training, the draw took place at the Shangri-La hotel. On Thursday, the rounds of 16 games were played at the Tennis Club de la Châtaigneraie because of the rain. As of Friday, the kids played on a clay court installed on the frontcourt of the Hôtel de Ville. Sabine Lisicki and Ryan Harrison, both members of the Longines Rising Tennis Stars watched these games with great attention. The audience witnessed high level games as well as fair-play and tolerance, values that are dear to Longines.

Both finalists took part at an exhibition game together with Fabrice Santoro, patron of the 2013 Longines Future Tennis Aces tournament and Arnaud Clément, friend of the brand. At the end of the tournament, both finalists were presented with a Longines watch and an annual bursary of 2000$ to pay for their tennis equipment until their 16th birthday. Just like during the Roland-Garros final, the winner received a trophy from hands of Jean Gachassin, President of the FFT.

Official timekeeper of Roland-Garros, Longines presents this year the Conquest Classic line. The aim of this programme is to support talented players from all around the world between the ages of 17 and 23 at the start of their tennis career. At present it involves Sabine Lisicki (Germany), Sai-Sai Zheng (China), Grigor Dimitrov (Bulgaria), Roberto Carballes Baena (Spain), Ryan Harrison (USA), Tiago Fernandes (Brazil) and Tsung-Hua Yang (Taiwan).
