Hardware+Tools Middle East Opens 16% Larger Than Previous Edition

Hardware+Tools Middle East 2013, the annual trade and networking event that caters to the hardware, tools and materials industries in the Middle East, got off to a successful start at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre yesterday (Tuesday, June 11th).

The trade fair was inaugruated by H.E. Sami Al Qamzi, Director General, Department of Economic Development who was accompanied by senior government and industry figures as well as management of organiser Epoc Messe Frankfurt.

H.E. Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of the Department of Economic Development in Dubai, said: “It is great to see the show growing and the number of local UAE exhibitors participating. Trade exhibitions such as Hardware+Tools Middle East are an excellent boost to the economy as they help develop bilateral trade relations with many countries.”

Opening 16% larger than the previous edition and featuring 10% more exhibitors than in 2012, the exhibition's growth underlines the enormous potential seen in the region by international manufacturers and suppliers.

Demand for hardware, tools and materials in the region is expected to increase, given the reviving fortunes of the construction industry and the increasing pace of infrastructure creation in the region.

According to leading analysts Business Monitor International, the UAE construction industry is expected to grow steadily in value over the years from the current AED 151.3 billion (US$ 41.1 billion) to AED 198.7 billion ($ 54.1 billion)  in 2016. This represents a year-on-year growth of nearly 5%. Capital investment in construction is expected to increase from the current AED 348.2 billion (US$94.8 bn) to AED 480.7 billion (US$ 130.8 bn) in 2016.*

“We expect that the growing level of investment and interest in the now expanding infrastructure sector will impact favourably on the exhibition due to the resultant demand for fresh industry supplies. Hardware+Tools Middle East will, over the coming days, mirror the regional market trends and focus the attention on regional requirements,” said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of organiser, Epoc Messe Frankfurt.

Right from the opening day, exhibitors reported a good response from trade visitors who made their presence felt. A large number were looking for new products and equipment, especially hand and power tools. More than a few were there to search out new suppliers for hardware, tools and construction materials.

Naser Ali, Managing Director of Einhell, producers of a wide range of hand and power tools, was pleased with the initial response to the show. “We have always found the buyers receptive at Hardware+Tools Middle East over the years. This year is no different and we expect to do well through our participation.”

With a new range of air tools, executives at Vertex were looking forward to engaging with regional trade buyers over the three days of the exhibition. “This is a region with enormous potential and represents a significant potential market for us,” said Hisham Pudussery, Managing Partner of Apex Trading LLC, exhibiting with their range of Vertex products and services.

Hardware+Tools Middle East 2013 features 228 hardware, tools and materials suppliers. The exhibition will run until Thursday June 13th at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
