Dubai, 5 June 2013: Capital Club Dubai, Dubai's premier business club and member of the ENSHAA group of companies, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Friends of Cancer Patients charitable society (FoCP), under which the Club will lend its support to the charity's initiatives through the provision of a number of exclusive services and contributions.
The agreement was signed at the club's headquarter recently by Emma Cullen, General Manager at Capital Club Dubai, and Dr Sawsan Abdul Salam Al Madhi, Secretary General for Friends of Cancer Patients charitable society (FoCP).
FOCP, whose Pink Caravan campaign to raise awareness of the importance of early breast cancer detection has been well received across the country, is actively involved in supporting those affected by cancer — patients and their families — by providing both moral and financial support in the form of information, practical assistance and funds, where possible.
As per the terms of the agreement, which will run until the end of 2013, Capital Club Dubai will provide a venue for a range of FoCP activities; host monthly cancer awareness sessions for members and non-members of the Club; sponsor Q&A events with high profile speakers; and dedicate a percentage of the profits from a number of the Club's events to the cancer charity. In addition, Capital Club will promote the FOCP's corporate wellness programmes and other events through its newsletter.
Speaking of the agreement, Emma Cullen said, “We are delighted to have signed this MoU to formalise our relationship with FoCP. We are committed to extending the necessary support to the organisation via various means, and we look forward to contributing to the charity's efforts. Working collectively, we aim to help raise awareness in the fight against cancer.”
Dr Al Madhi added, “The Friends of Cancer Patients has two main objectives – to create awareness and to help cancer patients by providing moral, financial and practical support – and is committed to providing the highest levels of support to those affected by cancer within the UAE. This agreement with Capital Club Dubai, which will see it contribute greatly to our programmes and awareness initiatives, will enable us to extend our reach, moving us ever closer to our goals and involving the private sector in these programmes and CSR initiatives.”
The FoCP provides financial, moral and psychological support to cancer patients and their families. The organisation focuses on awareness through the Pink Caravan campaign which was launched by the FoCP with the aim to spread awareness on the importance of early detection for breast cancer. The campaign was highly received by UAE's people.
The FoCP is a charitable and volunteer foundation set up by Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi and has, since its inception in 1999, provided assistance to over 900 patients and their families. The organisation hosts a number of activities aimed at spreading awareness and raising funds throughout the year.
