Bayanat Steps up Gear to Build Capacity of UAE Nationals and Drive Emiratization

Supports GIS Career Forum 2013 at Sharjah Women's College

Abu Dhabi-UAE: 27 May, 2013 – Bayanat for Mapping and Surveying Services LLC (Bayanat), a  Bayanat is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mubadala Development Company provider of end-to-end and customized geospatial data products and services across the UAE, has concluded its second consecutive support to the fifth GIS Career Forum that was held at Sharjah Women's College - HCT.

GIS Career Forum, the only career fair for Emiratis dedicated to the GIS industry, was held last week and it offered students and fresh graduates the opportunity to meet and network with organizations utilizing the GIS technology and geospatial services in the UAE. Bayanat has earlier supported the GIS Career Forum at the Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research in Abu Dhabi and the Zayed University in Dubai that was held in 2012.

Khaled Al Melhi, Chief Executive Officer, Bayanat, said: “We look upon Emiratization as an imperative mandate and a drive for the overall development of the nation. In line with the goals of the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, we have achieved more than 70 per cent Emiratization rate in our organization. Bayanat is equally committed to playing a strategic role in the development of human talent in the geospatial services and GIS fields. We support and encourage our UAE citizens to take part in our relevant program at Bayanat to benefit from our wide range of opportunities including internships, training and mentoring.”

In pursuit of its mandate to encourage Emiratization, Bayanat was an exclusive sponsor of the event and demonstrated its culture of providing career counseling for employees, particularly the UAE nationals to enhance their professional development.

The unprecedented growth of the UAE has prompted Bayanat to revamp and upgrade its IT infrastructure for customized geospatial data products and services as it plays as essential role in supporting both government and private organizations, which in turn will contribute to positioning the UAE as one of the leading countries in GIS use in the Middle East. The scenario has in turn led to a high demand for GIS professionals in the Middle East, especially the UAE.

Through its participation at events such as the GIS Career Forum, Bayanat seeks to integrate a larger number of nationals into the GIS community. In addition, it seeks to overcome technical obstacles that may face nationals working in this fast-developing sector and raise awareness on future job opportunities.

Al Melhi added: “The rapid development that the UAE is witnessing has made it necessary for us to match the pace of developing our skilled human assets through equipping them with the essential scientific, technical and personal training. In addition to stepping up our Emiratization efforts internally, we are equally committed to offer internships in the niche GIS segment to Emiratis majoring in scientific fields.”
