Updates handbag aesthetic for those wanting to avoid commercial convergence
Handbags are women's intimate companions, statements of self, fashion accessories, and useful container for life's many challenges. They are indispensible companions, and also expressive. Now, Deesse Handbags, designed by Dina Tahan, have updated the handbag design aesthetic through contemporary edginess combined with timeless cues.
The Deesse collections are set apart by their principal motifs of edginess without being overtly funky. They use expensive materials, with a twist of edge added through design nuances.
Deesse owner and designer Tahan thinks of style as an expression of personality mixed with charisma. She believes a bag is not an accessory as much as a lifestyle element, and is one of the most intimate yet functional companion a woman can have in her wardrobe. With Deesse Handbags, she creates means of expression, useful object of beauty, and bags that combines contemporary cues with classic designs
“I am extremely passionate – almost obsessed – with bags. The Deesse collections are based on what I, and many women, would like in a perfect handbag. I drew on personal experience, conversations, and research into how women use and carry their bags. We wanted move away from commercialisation to a more individual approach, with bags that reflect personality without being overtly rebellious and maintaining a certain timelessness,” says Tahan.
The Deesse collections, manufactured in Lebanon and updated twice a year, are available in Valleydez; Cream in Lebanon and Jeddah. In a testament to discreet class, bag prices are available only on request. The young brand was launched in 2011, but has since been creating waves amongst clients wanting to depart from big-brand convergence.
The bags are crafted from fine materials including python skin and genuine leather. Clever use of metal embellishments and trimmings make them eye-catching, while ingenious contemporary twists on classic designs pay tribute to contemporary female lifestyles.
