DUBAI, May 16, 2013: Ten of the region's most promising young event organisers will go head-to-head for two of the best graduate jobs in the industry.
Called Eventice and using the style of hit television show The Apprentice, they will take on a series of challenges at the Middle East Event Show in Dubai from May 21-23.
They will be assessed by a panel of industry experts who will eliminate the hopefuls until only two of them are left.
The winning candidates will then head to work – one with Dubai-based Informa Exhibitions and the other with Innovations Unlimited ME, working between Doha and Dubai.
Eventice is the brainchild of ESP International, an HR leader in the events industry that has run similar competitions in the UK for three years.
'We are very excited to bring this competition to the region and these candidates have already shown that they are prepared to go the extra mile, and that's what we are looking for,' said Rebecca Wilson, Director at ESP International.
'It is very difficult to get into the events industry in this region and the aim is to give people opportunities that they would not get by simply submitting a CV.
'Each task is tailored around communication, creativity, adaptability, performance and problem solving - all qualities you need in the industry.'
The tasks will be run by biz-events, the Middle East's leading provider of innovative team building solutions.
Andrew Fieldhouse of biz-events said: 'We have developed a varied itinerary of challenges that will look at the contenders' ability to work in a team, think clearly under pressure, communicate effectively, organize things with limited time and resources and use their initiative to problem solve in a competitive, time-driven environment. All of these are skills that should come naturally to anyone keen to work in the exciting and demanding world of events.
'We cannot reveal what these challenges will be as they remain a closely guarded secret until the moment each session begins, which reflects another truth of life in event organizing – expect the unexpected, when you least expect it.'
Eventice will run during the Middle East Event Show being held at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from May 21-23 with the two winners being announced at the Middle East Event Awards ceremony on May 22.
