Well-balanced and good eating habits should be adopted at an early age, says UAE nutritionist

Introducing children to balanced and varied foods during their early development stages will reap a good harvest in the future

Dubai, United Arab Emirates Dubai, 13th May 2013: Hala Barghout, a leading UAE based nutritionist has recently conducted an informative and educational session for mothers on child nutrition at KidZania, The Dubai Mall. The gathering, which was organized by Barni, a tasty, playful and wholesome daily snack; loved by children and approved by mothers, was attended by a full house of 170 children and mothers who interacted with the nutritionist on a wide range of topics such as the importance of coaching young children on good eating habits, energy needs for children and balanced diet, typical meal patterns for children and adolescents in Gulf countries and the role of food breaks in a child's diet and recommendation for a balanced snacking for children.

Accompanying the nutritionist, Super Granny Andalene, gave valuable parenting tips on child development and growth. Discussion on topics such as discipline and reprimand caught the undivided attention of parents at the event.

Hala Barghout said, It is imperative that children need to adopt a well-balanced and varied diet. Apart from eating a daily recommended amount of vegetables, fruits, cereals and high quality protein and dairy products, physical activity should also be enjoyed by children, making it a large part of their daily routine. It is the sole responsibility of the parents to ensure that their children eat well and eat right. Minimizing the intake of processed foods while ensuring regular snack breaks with their three main meals will prove beneficial in the long run, she added.

Adding on the child development subject, , Super Granny Andalene said, Discipline is guiding your child to make the right choice, by setting an example, setting firm boundaries, allowing them to make their own choices, and thereafter allowing them to bear the consequences of their choice.

When a child has internalized the lesson through experiencing natural consequences and then chooses not to repeat the behavior, is ultimately what you want to achieve. she added.

Our partnership with Hala Barghout and Super Granny, to organize a series of informative sessions on child nutrition and child development for UAE moms is to help them in rearing and nurturing healthy children. Empowering moms to make wiser decision concerning their children's nutritional development, alongside their overall growth and personality development is a task undertaken by Barni, said Mr. Vishal Tikku - Area Director of Mondelēz International.

Barni's main goal is to facilitate mothers with child development, expertise and knowledge, which will thereby prove beneficial to them for their growing children. Barni is suitably adapted to children's energy intake and the soft teddy bear shaped cake is packed with superior ingredients such as wheat, milk and eggs. When accompanied with a fruit and a dairy product, makes a balanced and enjoyable snack time for children.
