Mobile Show and Cards & Payments Middle East 2013 to focus on business growth potential for the region

Region's only mobile trade show returns for a second year, alongside leading smart cards conference and exhibition, with double the number of visitors
 
Dubai, United Arab Emirates (8 May, 2013):  The region's leading trade shows for mobile technology, and cards and payments industries The Mobile Show, and Cards & Payments Middle East, presented by Mobily and Emirates Identity Authority respectively, are set to take place in Dubai next week. The two-day event brings together the biggest names across both industries to debate issues and inform professionals in the Middle East about business growth potential.

Event organizer, Matthew Wallhead, General Manager of Terrapinn commented, “Mobile subscriptions in the Middle East are expected to exceed 250 million this year with the number of mobile users in the Middle East to reach over 350 million by end of 2016, making it a platform for tremendous growth. The UAE has one of the highest ownerships of smartphone globally with almost two thirds of people owing a smartphone, a further tenth of mobile users owning an advanced feature phone on which they can access the internet. This degree of smartphone penetration and the recent advents in contactless payments are changing the ways we live, work, learn and play.  This is creating an opportunity for all players in the mobile and transactions ecosystem to spur growth and position themselves as key stakeholders in many new industries such as marketing, media and entertainment, healthcare, and education.” 

“The size of these opportunities and the speed at which they are occurring is indisputable. However, the business models are not clear and the ecosystem is not fully formed.  The single biggest mission of these unique events is to provide a platform and an environment to create this change.”

To ensure that visitors walk away with a full understanding of the current payments and transactions, and mobile landscape the shows will be co-located at the Dubai World Trade Centre.  Both exhibitions will share the same floor space and are free for all to attend.

Wallhead continued, “The exhibition is a great place to get an industry snap-shot, with some of the world's leading solution providers and smart card developers such as Gemalto & Oberthur, through to global industry players Nokia, Dermalog, Samsung and BlackBerry. This year, having the two shows co-locate provides fantastic networking and knowledge exchange opportunities for professionals across industries to identify solution providers and partners in the region.”

Cards & Payments Middle East:Now in its 14th edition,   the exhibition brings together thousands of leading figures from the region's biggest stakeholders in the cards and payments, ecommerce and ID industries to discuss new strategies and partnerships that will drive the Middle East's paperless revolution and huge growth in mobile payments and contactless smartcards.

The Mobile Show:The Mobile Show, now in its second year seeks to bring together industry heavy weights to further explore the future of this high growth industry.  Following the success of last year's show, the show has grown and will now cover an even broader agenda and expects twice the number of exhibitors and visitors.

Taking place from the 14-15 May, over 200 companies will be exhibiting across the two shows at the Dubai World Trade Centre.  Both events include a free-to-attend exhibition and a series of free conferences that will run in-conjunction with a number of paid-to-attend keynote agendas.  These keynote sessions will featuring speakers from leading companies from around the world including Marc Frons, Senior Vice President & CIO, New York Times; Grant Allen, Program Director & Principal Architect, Google; Mark Challinor, Director Mobile Platforms, Daily Telegraph; Christian Doerffer, Co-Founder & CCO, Mindshapes; Peter Parmenter, Senior Director of New Platforms & OEM, EA; and Ludovic Levy, International Director Mobile Advertising, Orange.
