Dnata and Khidmah Falcons register impressive wins to advance to next round
Dubai, UAE, May 6th, 2013: DB Schenker's batsmen held their nerves together till the last ball to overcome their opponents Inaya's tight bowling in the 3rd round of inaugural Dulsco Super 8 Cricket tournament, currently taking place in Dubai.
In what remains as one of the closest finishes of the Dulsco Super 8 so far, Inaya set a score of 63 runs for just two wickets from their allotted 8 overs. In response, DB Schenker got off to a bad start losing early wickets but recovered well in time to edge closer to the target score. In the last ball, requiring 5 runs to win, Tahir hit a huge six to hand DB Schenker its third consecutive victory in the league.
The match between Khidmah Giants and Gulf Healthcare was one of the much-awaited. Khidmah Giants almost remained true to their name of being giant-killers by restricting the hard-hitting Gulf Healthcare batsmen to 58 runs. In previous encounters with other teams, Gulf Healthcare have successfully notched up scores of over 100. However, Khidmah Giants failed miserably to chase that modest target and were bowled out for 26 runs.
In their match, Dnata set a score of 49 runs for 6 wickets and then bundled out their opponents, Cylingas, for only 10 runs - the lowest score of the tournament. Khidmah Falcons maintained their winning streak by scoring 58 runs and then overpowering Dubai Refreshments for 18 runs.
In other matches, National Air Cargo, Starsline, Danway and Dahbashi registered easy wins over their opponents.
With 16 corporate teams vying for the top honours, Dulsco Super 8 is aimed at discovering and encouraging some of the best cricketing talent from among corporate teams in the UAE. The 16 teams are placed in 4 groups consisting of 4 teams in a group. The 8-a-side teams will be pitted against each other to play 8 overs each side in round-robin format. The top 2 teams from each group will move into the knockout stages, with professional umpires supervising all matches.
