“Tulsa Dentist 12-Time Winner in International Competition TULSA, OK—For the fourth consecutive year, Tulsa dentist Joseph Massad, DDS, is being honored as a recipient of the prestigious Telly Awards for his accomplishments in video production, making him a twelve-time winner with a total of two silver and ten bronze Telly Awards.”
Since 1979, Telly Awards have been presented to those productions demonstrating outstanding achievements in local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs; in video and film productions; and in Web-based commercials, videos, and films. Long considered the premiere award of its kind, the Telly Awards competition attracts more than 11,000 entries each year from the most respected production companies, advertising agencies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in all 50 states and from around the world. Entries are scrutinized by a national panel of judges and then rated on a 10-point scale.
This year, the first of Dr. Massad's four bronze Telly Awards (receiving a score of 7.0 to 8.9 points) recognizes his achievements in the Use of Animation/Non-Broadcast Productions for a continuing-education online-video course for the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA) School of Dentistry. Selected from among the various online-video courses conducted and produced by Dr. Massad for UTHSC, the animated video portion of the collage-form presentation demonstrates impression-making techniques to practicing dentists seeking continuing-education credits.
The second 2013 bronze Telly Award, bestowed to Dr. Massad's promo for Clinical Media Productions (CMP), recognizes achievements in Internet/Online Commercial Copywriting. The video shows the Massad Media Group facilities for filming and recording courses, techniques, and case studies of interest to dental practitioners worldwide and presents clips of behind-the-scenes activity from previous film shoots.
The third 2013 bronze Telly award was achieved in the category Non-Broadcast Productions/How-To/Instructional Video showing the proper use of Bosworth Dental's air polisher. The video used both live-action and animated footage and was awarded an additional bronze Telly Award for the Use of Animation/Non-Broadcast Productions in recognition of the effectiveness of its animated sequences to reinforce both voice-over narration and live-action scenes.
“It's always an honor to be recognized, but this year's awards are as meaningful as those received previously,” he says, noting that his entries were judged alongside those of multiple industries outside dentistry. Dr. Massad also is grateful to his youngest son who, as the recipient of thirty Telly Awards, twelve Emmys, and two New York Festival World Medal, serves as his video production mentor.
