Dubai, UAE; April 21, 2013: Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, managed by Emaar Retail LLC, is inviting visitors to mark Earth Day, the global initiative, on April 22, 2013, by making a pledge to protect the Earth. The world-renowned attraction is participating for the third consecutive year in the initiative that aims to raise awareness on the need to take concrete action to protect the environment.
On April 22, 2013, visitors can write down a promise they are willing to make for Earth Day, on the Underwater Zoo entrance wall screen. Last year's pledges included: “From today onwards, I promise to turn off all lights and electronic appliances before leaving my house”; “I promise to turn off the water while brushing my teeth”, and “I will reduce the use of air conditioning when I am not home,' amongst others.
Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo is taking part in the event to help make a difference and promote the sustainable development initiatives being spearheaded by the UAE. The activity aims to strengthen public awareness on the key environmental challenges faced by humanity today and inspire visitors to become active partners in the efforts to manage climate change.
Located in The Dubai Mall, Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo is one of the largest and most diverse indoor aquariums in the world with tens of thousands of aquatic animals, and features the world's largest acrylic viewing panel. Underwater Zoo, located on Level 2 above the main Aquarium window, presents daily talks on the planets diversity in different ecological zones including the Rainforest, Rocky Shore and Living Ocean.
