Dubai – UAE:-In a press conference attended by global and regional media in the Dubai Courts' Rashid Hall on Monday 16th April, H.E. Dr Ahmed Saeed Bin Hazim Al Suwaidi, Director General of Dubai Courts and the Chief of the Supreme Committee of the Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Initiatives for Legal Excellence, announced the hosting of the International Association for Court Administration's (IACA) first-ever regional conference in the Middle East. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Dubai Courts, the organizers of the Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Initiatives for Legal Excellence, in collaboration with the DIFC Courts and the International Association for Courts Administration to host this first-ever regional conference in the Emirate of Dubai from 9th to 10th December, 2013.
H.E. Dr Ahmed Saeed Bin Hazim said that the hosting of this conference in Dubai is a true translation of the vision of H.H Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai for enhancing the global competitiveness of the Emirate of Dubai, both regionally and globally, in the field of legal administration. It endorses the reputation of Dubai as the best center to organize such conferences. He further stated that Dubai Courts were proud of the trust that IACA had shown by choosing Dubai Courts and DIFC Courts to be the strategic partners for this conference.
Dubai Courts also extended their gratitude towards H.H Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Judicial Council, for his generous patronage for IACA's first conference in the Middle East. The event will provide an excellent opportunity for judicial organizations in the Middle East and all over the world to share in, and gain knowledge about, best practices and successful examples of court efficiency worldwide. Dubai Courts are considered to be one of the strong judicial organizations that serve as a role model in the Middle East region. The reputation of Dubai has also been evident from the views of businessmen, who consider Dubai to be a thriving emirate supported by the latest IT and eGovernment practices. Dr Ahmed Saeed Bin Hazim added that the conference stems from a vision for the future of the region to enhance the legal framework in the UAE and the Middle East. The aim is to build a qualified young generation in the legal field: this would lead to the enhan
cement of regional court administration systems and develop excellence in court procedures that would serve the community. The implementation of best global practices for effective court procedures would lead to prompt and efficient justice – and the event aims to motivate the court administration leaders across the world.
He further added that the conference would involve wide participation from the region and worldwide, in order to highlight and present suitable administrative case studies about the latest strategies for change. Participants will have a unique opportunity to understand the dynamic perceptions and developments in global court systems.
Dr Ahmed concluded by saying that the organizers would provide an excellent opportunity for nationals and national institutions to participate in such an important event.
Jeffrey Apperson, Chief Executive Officer of IACA, commented: “Dubai was selected by us based on key factors including important advances in the DIFC Courts and Dubai Courts, strong government support, and Dubai's expanding role as a business, tourism and aviation hub.”
Mark Beer, Chief Executive and Registrar of the DIFC Courts, added: “The DIFC Courts have always placed a strong emphasis on court excellence, efficiency and customer engagement. We have worked closely with IACA in recent years to strengthen bonds between the organization and courts across the Gulf region and we are very pleased to be a partner in hosting this gathering.”
