DWTC to welcome over 200,000 visitors in April

Strong April line-up of 17 exhibitions and conferences reflects Dubai's influence on regional trade

Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Following a strong first quarter of 2013 with high-profile mega-shows and exhibitions such as Arab Health and Gulfood breaking international attendance records, DWTC carries this strong momentum into April for what is expected to be the busiest month of 2013 with 17 industry-shaping events and conferences.

Featuring the new GITEX Shopper Spring, the inaugural Dubai World Conference on Consumer Rights (DWCCR) and the Power Brands exhibition, the Water Energy Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), and Dubai Global Energy Forum (DGEF) among others, April's calendar of events will cater to some of the region's largest and most influential industries including consumer technology, energy, entertainment, education, and healthcare.

“DWTC has been successful in attracting industry-leading exhibitions and conferences strategic to Dubai's economic agenda, reflecting the growing influence of the Emirate as a regional and global hub for trade”, said Ahmed Alkhaja, Senior Vice President – Venues, Dubai World Trade Centre. “The number of trade visitors and companies that will come to Dubai from all over the world this April underpins our efforts to draw top-tier influencers from industries that are crucial to the growth of regional economies”.

The impressive line-up of shows in April commences with Obs-Gyne Exhibition and Congress, the leading congress in the region that deals with women's health and well-being. This year marks the largest turnout in the congress' five-year history with more than 50 companies from 20 countries exhibiting the cutting edge in technology from the ever important Obstetrics and Gynaecology health sector.

April also marks the inaugural year for the Dubai World Conference on Consumer Rights (DWCCR) and the Power Brands exhibition, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai. The conference and exhibition, which run from April 1-3, aim to bring the best international practices in protecting consumer rights and intellectual property to the fast-evolving Middle East retail sector and particularly the vibrant UAE market.

The highly-anticipated new edition of GITEX Shopper Spring will run from April 3-6 and is expected to attract thousands of consumers from around the UAE. Organised under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, GITEX Shopper Spring is designed to feed the high consumer demand witnessed by its autumn counterpart, which saw a 25 percent increase in demand after relocating to DWTC. The show will bring together some of the technology industry's biggest players, including Samsung, Dell, Nikon, Nokia, and Blackberry.

April will also see the 14th edition of the Middle East's most established Optical and Ophthalmic exhibition and conference, Vision-X Dubai. Running from April 9-11, Vision-X provides the platform for top practitioners in the eye-care industry to showcase the sector's latest technology and trends ranging from fashion and eyewear to medical diagnostic equipment, packaging and industrial applications of lenses. This year, the event will see more than 3,500 trade visitors and 90 exhibitors from 17 countries, including China, India, Italy, Korea and Turkey.

Servicing the estimated $700million per year industry, The Bride Show is set to kick off its 15th year in Dubai with one of its biggest shows yet. With the number of married couples in the GCC expected to grow to 3.3 billion by 2020, the bridal sector offers major opportunities for a range of services to flourish in the region. Taking place from April 10–13, The Bride Show will act as a focal point for businesses that work in the bridal sector such as fashion, manufacturing, food and beverage, and jewellery.

Running concurrently from April 15-17, the Water Energy Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) and the Dubai Global Energy Forum 2013 (DGEF) will address the energy and water products industry – a core pillar of Dubai's economy. Expected to attract more than 1,500 companies and 16,000 visitors from 40 countries in five continents, WETEX and DGEF stand globally as key events for the energy sector. Dubai's central location between three continents and its stance as the biggest re-exporting centre in the Middle East provides a strategic backdrop to the essential topic of sustainable development as the world moves to preserve its energy resources.

Gulf Education and Training Exhibition (GETEX), taking place from April 17–19, taps into the ever-crucial education sector. According to a recent ICAEW Economic Insights report, the Middle East now has the world's largest youth population, with 60% under the age of 30. This creates a unique opportunity for the region to further develop its education sector through strategic partnerships with leading local and global educational institutions. At GETEX this year, visitors will have access to over 2,500 academic options from over 500 exhibitors from 40 countries. Visitors will also gain a better understanding of on-going education trends, latest additions to courses, degree programmes and education-specific technology.

Dubai Entertainment, Amusement and Leisure Show (DEAL), a leading trade exhibition for the entertainment and amusement sector will take place from April 23–25.  The show will bring together industry professionals to network, gain new ideas, view new products and services, and explore mutually beneficial business relationships within the industry.

Aluminium Middle East, which will run from April 23–25, is a leading exhibition for aluminium products, technologies and investments in the Middle East and is expected to draw more than 3,500 representatives from the industrial and manufacturing sector.

Rounding out April's events will be Careers UAE, which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. The event is the UAE's leading recruitment, training and education exhibition and is designed to encourage and guide Emirati youth towards successful and fulfilling employment with leading companies in the UAE. The event will take place from April 30 – May 2.

Other key shows scheduled to take place in April include Gulf Pack and Gulf Print Exhibition from April 8 – 11, Dubai International Wood and Wood Machinery Show from April 9 – 11, Dubai World Dermatology and Laser Conference and Exhibition – Dubai Derma from April 16 – 18, PhotoWorld Dubai Exhibition from April 24 – 26, Dubai International Property and Investment Exhibition and Conference from April 30 – May 2, and Annual Investment Meeting from April 30 – May 2.   For more information, visit www.dwtc.com.
