February 27, 2013, Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), the government authority charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of the maritime sector in Dubai, has announced its full support to and participation in the Dubai International Boat Show 2013, which will be held from March 5 to 9, at the Dubai International Marine Club, Mina Seyahi. The event is regarded as one of the most distinguished yacht and boat shows in the world.

During the event, DMCA aims to promote maritime safety and safe navigation of vessels through proper implementation of safety procedures and techniques while sailing, as part of its efforts to raise awareness about the best maritime security practices to maintain a safe and highly developed maritime sector in Dubai. The Authority will further focus on the services it offers to water sports amateurs and professionals, providing them an overview of various maritime safety procedures, traffic and maneuver management rules, sailing, safety equipments, maritime environment, among other topics.

Amer Ali, Executive Director, Dubai Maritime City Authority, explained that the Dubai International Boat Show is of great importance as it offers an interactive platform for high-profile decision makers, businessmen and professionals from the maritime leisure industry. He stressed that DMCA is keen to leverage the opportunities presented at the event to introduce the latest means of using maritime vessels in Dubai while maintaining the highest local and international standards of maritime safety and environmental practices. This is in line with our strong commitment to achieving the objectives of the strategic maritime plan aimed at developing and regulating the maritime sector while promoting Dubai's status as a leading global destination for maritime excellence and efficiency.”

“The maritime industry saw remarkable progress last year as we managed to pursue our ambitious objectives through a series of leading initiatives to encourage compliance with the highest maritime safety standards and raise Dubai's maritime competiveness in the region and worldwide, while also developing the necessary infrastructure to raise the bar of the local maritime industry in accordance with the key values of excellence, creativity, cooperation and protection of the maritime environment. Through our participation in the Dubai International Boat Show 2013, we look forward to highlighting our achievements and sharing our clear-cut goals with other enterprises from the industry to help consolidate Dubai's role as a key player in the regional and international maritime landscape. This, indeed, comes in line with the vision and directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai,” Ali added.

DMCA is also planning to organise a series of introductory and awareness seminars on the sidelines of the Dubai International Boat Show 2013, to shed light on the leisure yacht and boat services provided by the Authority. The event is also set to feature a range of initiatives that are specifically developed by DMCA to promote awareness on maritime safety among boat owners in Dubai, in collaboration with some of the key industry players from the public and private sectors.
