In contrast to previous seasons, MasterChef Australia's Season 4 sees the Top 50 finalists begin their battle for the much-coveted apron in Melbourne – instead of Sydney. From there, once they have been whittled down to the Top 24, the aspiring MasterChefswill head to Sydney where they will partake in a plethora of adrenaline-fueled challenges and endure extreme cooking tests.Ensuring a spot in the Top 24 will be no easy feat; in fact, the strict selection criteria extend beyond mere culinary expertise, taking into account creativity, intricate precision to details and budding personalities as well.
The contestants are set to endure strenuous pressure tests as well as face the show's returning judges George Calombaris, Gary Mehigan and Matt Preston. Throughout the season, as the suspense mounts to a pitch, the contestants will also come under the scrutiny of a host of high-calibre guest judges including Jamie Oliver, Rick Stein and Buddy Valastro.
