QRCE hosts ArabNet Developer Tournament
 

Wednesday, October 31, 2012– Amman, Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship (QRCE) has started preparations to host ArabNet Developer Tournament in Jordan, the 2nd country in line for the ArabNet Developer Tournaments in MENA. Sponsored by Orange Jordan, the competition aims at connecting innovation and entrepreneurship with the digital media industry, and helping web and mobile developers discover their talents and value their technical backgrounds in the field of web, mobile, and software development.

In his comment, QRCE's Executive Director, Eng. Farhan Kalaldeh, said: “The ArabNet competition offers an excellent platform for Arab web and mobile developers and coders to demonstrate their technical skills and capabilities in front of a panel of Technical experts, investors and executives . Kalaldeh added that applicants can register for free for the contest which will take place on Saturday, November 3, at the Royal Scientific Society, Mechanical Labs Building, Founders Auditorium in Jubaiha, Amman, starting at 8 am sharp.

Kalaldeh also noted that participants will go head-to-head in a 4-round 12-hour tournament-style competition that will recognize the top four developers and reward them cash prizes. The winners will also represent Jordan at the final ArabNet Developer Championship during the ArabNet Digital Summit 2013 and compete against the winners from all the other tournaments for the grand title.

Taking place in Beirut, Amman, Riyadh, Cairo, and Dubai, the developer tournament seeks to raise awareness among youth and motivate them to adopt the concept of business leadership, besides to exposing them to the most creative ways to utilize new technologies that would contribute to building successful future economies and creating job opportunities.

For his part, Founder of ArabNet, Omar Christidis, said: “The digital sphere in the Middle East is currently witnessing growth and prosperity.

However, there is a skills shortage with regard to programming talent, and this forces software development companies to constantly search for gifted developers, coders, hackers, and geeks,” highlighting the role of ArabNet Tournament in acquainting participants with career opportunities available in the digital industry.

Being widely acknowledged as a hub for digital professionals and entrepreneurs to connect and learn, ArabNet aims at building the web industry and supporting entrepreneurship in the MENA region. Over the past three years, ArabNet held three summits bringing together over 1,500 digital entrepreneurs from across the region.
