Dubai, UAE, 31 January 2022: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world's largest district cooling services provider, has closed a deal with the ‘Select Group’ to supply 10,915 refrigeration tons (RT) of district cooling energy to 'The Peninsula', the largest mixed-use real estate development in Business Bay.

Empower will start providing its environmentally-friendly district cooling services in phases by later this year, in line with the completion stages of the mega project being developed by Select Group. Inspired by its name from the shape of the plot of land, which is the only peninsula with the largest view in Business Bay, the project extends over an area of more than one million square feet, with an estimated built-up area of 5.5 million square feet. The project is set to become an exclusive community in Downtown Dubai close to some of the city's most prominent landmarks, and boasts a unique location along the Dubai Canal that connects Dubai Creek, the historic commercial hub of Dubai with the Arabian Gulf, reflecting the city's spatial and cultural character in a way that masterfully blends its bright history with the desire to continue innovation according to world-class standards.

Under a contract valued at AED 629 million, China State Construction Engineering Corporation (Middle East) is currently implementing the first phase of the ‘The Peninsula’ that combines in all of its phases 8 mixed-use buildings, as well as vast green spaces, cafes, restaurants, retail outlets, parks, landscapes and a range of amenities extending along the Dubai Canal waterfront.
