Dubai residents responds to Empower's 'Set and Save 24°C’ campaign to optimise energy consumption

Dubai, UAE, 08 August 2021: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world's largest district cooling services provider, revealed a remarkable progress in its summer campaign 'Set and Save 24°C’, which it launched in June 2021 for a period of three months with the aim of encouraging the country's population in general and Empower's 140,000 customers in particular, to focus on the optimal use and rationalization of energy, especially during the summer period, where the power consumption for cooling is at its peak. The Company commended customer’s positive interaction with the campaign to achieve energy savings and reduce the consumption bills, stressing that customers play a vital role towards the adoption of sustainable and environmentally-friendly practices, as well as the consolidation of the green economy concepts.

In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Empower seeks to implement the planned sustainable developments that aim to reduce electricity and water consumption by 30%, and to make the Emirate a global hub for green economy and the city with the lowest carbon footprint worldwide by 2050.
Empower explained that the campaign provided customers with 8 valuable tips to help them achieve the desired goals and to ensure their comfort and happiness by providing the best, most efficient and sustainable cooling service.

According to the figures released at the beginning of this year, Empower has successfully recorded power savings amounting to more than 1,312 megawatts of electricity, worth value of 3.4 billion dirhams in 2020.


Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said: “We are so delighted to see this great interaction from our customers towards the awareness-raising campaigns and initiatives that Empower constantly launches to rationalize district cooling energy consumption and preserve the environment. This reflects the awareness of consumers as active partners in the sustainable national development plans.' 

Bin Shafar stressed that Empower, while striving to provide the best and finest sustainable district cooling services, counts highly on the awareness of its customers to avoid any practices that may cause malfunctions, and to implement the guidelines that ensure provision of high quality and uninterrupted cooling services.

He pointed out that Empower has become a key part of the Dubai government's strategies for energy efficiency management, including the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030, to transform the Emirate into a global hub for clean energy and green economy, and to consolidate its global position as the city with the lowest carbon footprint in the world.
'The modern technologies that Empower uses and develops year after year, help customers monitor and plan their consumption of district cooling energy, and this in turn contribute to reducing energy consumption rates and achieving significant savings”, the CEO added

Empower provides district cooling services to more than 1,252 buildings, catering to more than 140,000 customers, with a total cooling capacity of 1.64 million Refrigeration Tons (RT). The Company offers eco-friendly district cooling services to a number of high-profile developments, such as Dubai Waterfront, Bluewaters, Jumeirah Group, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Business Bay, Dubai Healthcare City, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Palm Jumeirah, Discovery Gardens, Ibn Battuta Mall, Dubai Design District, International Media Production Zone and many others.
