Western Union Expands in Pakistan with Allied Bank

Families and Loved ones in Pakistan Can Receive Western Union Money Transfers Now at More than 1,350 Allied Bank Locations

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, October 15, 2020 — Customers in Pakistan can now receive Western Union international money transfers from family and loved ones around the world, at Allied Bank. A collaboration between Western Union, a global leader in cross-border, cross-currency money movement and payments, and Allied Bank, one of Pakistan’s leading banks, has expanded Western Union’s network with more than 1,350 Allied Bank locations now ready to serve across Pakistan.

Global senders can send money using Western Union’s digital services in 75 countries plus territories, or via Western Union’s iconic retail Agent network worldwide.
“At Western Union, we have a nearly 170-year history of connecting people,” said Ali Badreddine, Western Union Country Director for Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sudan, and South Sudan. “We make it possible to move money to nearly every corner of the world. None of this would be possible without the relationships we have fostered with in-country Agents, which is integral to serving customers.”

Ali added, “We are excited to welcome Allied Bank to the Western Union family, and are looking forward to this collaboration, which also extends our retail network in Pakistan. More importantly, we are facilitating greater access and convenience for customers in Pakistan to receive money from families and friends around the world.”

“Allied Bank began with a vision to provide value-added services to customers and engage in customer-centric solutions to meet their changing requirements,” said Tahir Hassan Qureshi, CEO Allied Bank Limited. “We are glad to collaborate with Western Union, combining our expertise to offer customers in Pakistan with expanded channels to receive money. We look forward to growing together and continuing to provide solutions guided by our customers’ needs.”
According to the World Bank, in 2019 Pakistan was the second-largest remittance-receiving country in South Asia, and one of the top 10 remittance-receiving countries in the world. Western Union serves customers from an extensive network of Agents; customers are advised to check the Agent Locator link for the status of the nearest locations.
