22 September 2019, Dubai, UAE: The American University in Dubai (AUD) has been ranked as the #1 and best university in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for employability in the QS Graduate World University Rankings and the Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings, highlighting the success of the university’s efforts to bridge the gap between academic study and employment.

AUD has also been ranked as the #1 university in terms of international faculty and the #3 university in terms of international students, where it continues to stand out on a local, regional, and international level for its diverse community. These achievements are in line with AUD’s mission to provide an outstanding level of education within a culturally diverse environment.

On the most recent rankings, Dr. David A. Schmidt, AUD’s President said “We are delighted to have achieved the top world university rankings in terms of employment and diversity, as this serves as a testament to the exceptional preparation that our global faculty members provide to our students in the classroom and beyond.”

Commenting on AUD’s diversity, Dr. Imad Y. Hoballah, Provost and Chief Academic Officer at AUD, said: “At AUD, we uphold academic excellence as one of our most valued principles. Superb diverse faculty is one of our most valued assets leading to academic excellence. We believe that the learning experience for our students is greatly enhanced when they are exposed to diverse perspectives, multiple viewpoints, and growth mindsets, preparing them to lead their communities and to be more ‘life ready’ in a multicultural world.”

Sara L Montero, Dean of Student Affairs, added: “Being the leading university in Dubai, one of the world’s most diverse cities, we are delighted to reflect Dubai’s diversity, tolerance and spirit of co-existence within our students, faculty, and staff. One of our key objectives at AUD is to nurture intercultural understanding and maintain an environment which fosters mutual respect among individuals, and these new rankings recognize our accomplishment in creating a uniquely diverse learning community.”

Cynthia Samaha, Career Services Manager at AUD, said: “One of our top priorities at AUD is securing valuable and rewarding career opportunities for our students after graduation, and we are proud to be recognized for our efforts in this regard. We work closely with a wide range of partners, organizations and companies around the world to provide our students with internships which enable them to develop their professional skills and prepare for the demanding global economy.”

AUD strives to provide its students with exceptional career services and guidance to prepare them for entering the job market after graduation. The university has a professional careers services division, which offers AUD students and alumni a job portal that allows them to apply for internships and job opportunities from a huge database of industry partners.

In addition, AUD offers its students mentorship programs and in-house workshops to coach students on methods to boost their professional profile and networking skills; in-class lectures by industry experts who share industry insights; guidance on the right approach to developing their CVs and enhancing their visibility among employers through AUD’s CV clinics; and the university hosts career fairs and employment conferences.

Founded in 1995, AUD now stands among the top universities in the UAE and the region, ranking as the 4th best university in the UAE as part of the QS World University Rankings, making it the leading university in Dubai. Additionally, AUD is the 23rd best university in the Arab Region according to the 2019 QS Arab Region University Rankings, the 150th university in 2020’s World’s Top 50 Universities under 50, and the only university in the UAE to be ranked in the QS Global Master of Business Administration (MBA) Rankings.
