Fashion Victims Season 2 Ends With Resounding Success

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, April 6, 2015 – Fashion Victims Season 2 held at the Atlantis on Friday, April 3rd 2015 proved to be a bigger success this year with the attendance of more than 1,000 guests. The day kicked off with informative workshops from industry experts, followed by the fashion shows of seven local and international fashion designers, and ended with a gala dinner that featured the Middle East Fashion Awards recognizing the crème de la crème of the region’s fashion scene.

The event also saw the attendance of Nancy Ajram, who was spotted at the front row of Amato’s show. She later on graced the gala dinner and presented an award during the Middle East Fashion Awards.

“It has been truly inspiring seeing this gathering of local and international talents at Fashion Victims Season 2. Our goal to cater to every fashion victim’s need to see and be seen, to learn more and be recognized has all been achieved through this unique platform. We are looking forward to Season 3 and we can only commit to improving this every single year,” says George Kanoun, CEO of Babylon Marketing and Events, the team behind Fashion Victims.

A sea of fashion enthusiasts made it to the three fashion workshops. The first workshop conducted by ESMOD Dubai, talked about the evolution of fashion through different stages in history. Renowned stylist and fashion author Kelly Lundberg followed with an interactive workshop on “The Power of a Stylist.” Finally, Shahzad Mohayudin, founder of the label Math Collective along with Georgina Woollams, founder of House of Evolution, gave a lecture for young designers on how to grow brands internationally.

Fashion Victims Season 2 Runway
With an aim to support local and international talents, the runway of Fashion Victims Season 2 saw two budding fashion designers from ESMOD Canella Hostal and Amira Salim showcase next to the beautiful collection of Sponsa and renowned designers Taibo Bacar from Africa, Joshua Fenu from Italy, Math from UK, and Dubai-based Filipino designer, Amato.

Sponsa is a high‐end bridal boutique located in the UAE focused on bringing you the latest trends from the world’s best-selling designer bridal gowns, formal wear dresses, and an array of accessories guaranteed to complete your look for any occasion. The runway collection saw dresses that were adored with laces to create fuller looks and also dresses that took inspiration from the floral range.

Amira Salim
“Score” by Amira Salim is a fusion between ice hockey, bull-fighting, and Faberge eggs transcribed into a rock-glam style. The key details are typical sports volumes, twisted with the unexpected fabric choices such as shiny vinyl, faux leather and jersey. The vibrant ‘electro pop’ color range makes the outfits stand out even more. The embroidery inspired by traditional bull-fighting and Faberge eggs gives a powerful edge and attitude to the collection.

Canella Hostal
Canella Hostal reveals its latest SS15 collection “OptiVision”. The collection is inspired by urban and modern, made up of graphic contract of solid colours blue, pink, white, purple and green which reflect the fusion and the optic. Canella Hostal’s style is highlighted by the different cuts-out which gives a contemporary interpretation to the everyday codes. Structure and movement are the keywords for this collection. Fabrics, prints, colours and symmetrical movements emphasize the intention.
Taibo Bacar
“A Luta Continua” is a collection inspired by the current situation of Mozambique and the stage the brand Taibo Bacar represents continuity, evolution, development and the future. It carries the history of the brand, it merges the two worlds of Taibo Bacar Haute Couture and Ready to Wear into one, as to say they both can tell the same story, dress the same woman.

Joshua Fenu
Celebrity accessories designer, Joshua Fenu, takes inspiration from flowers and animals from the tropical jungle that have been used in typical costumes from Ecuador’s indigenous populations. The result is an explosion of strong colors, forms and gorgeous embroidery that remember feathers, petals, animal skins and exotic plants mixed with symbols. In this atmosphere of “fatal attraction” born sophisticated lines of shoes and bags that are sensual and original weapons of seduction.

Math’s Autumn/Winter 2015 collection is inspired by the modern day style icons in London. These are women that have a keen sense of personal style that is full of contradictions. AW15 consists of a refined pallet of champagne gold, black and white, but it is the contrast of textures that not only gives the collection depth but highlights the sharp tailoring and graphic lines of the garment. The designer Shahzad Mohayudin chose two local muses to open and close his fashion show. They are Aimee Changco, co-founder of Baembu DXB that offers ethical and sustainable sourced apparel wear; and Eve, Radio Presenter from Channel 4’s Mornings with Marwan and Eve.

With his inherent passion for couture, Furne One, the world-renowned creative designer behind Amato, once again fearlessly showed an out-of-the-box, unconventional yet outstandingly chic collection. Using signature cuts, Amato has a visual directory that goes from romantic Shakespearean tales of a different era. His ensemble reflects elegance and the silent strength of women using rich textures, lavish materials, and rare embellishments techniques.

The gala dinner, which featured the Middle East Fashion Awards, as well as after-party happened right after the fashion shows.
