Dubai, 04 November 2014 - Fortnum & Mason has taken the tradition of Afternoon Tea and added a host of delicious savoury dishes to the menu. From Victoria Lobster Omelette to Braised Lamb Shoulder, Crab Souffle to Butternut Squash Risotto, Fortnum’s has a plate to suit every palette.
Since the 17th Century the British have embraced the ceremony of Tea and by the 1800s the tradition of Afternoon tea had diversified into a separate meal in itself. Aside from finger sandwiches, homemade scones and lashings of clotted cream, Fortnum’s new Tea Salon savouries add another layer of pleasure for your Afternoon Tea enjoyment!
Highlights on the menu include the following:
Welsh Rarebit with Roasted Tomato: This original dish featured on the launch menu of Fortnum’s Fountain Restaurant in 1955 and quickly gained such immense popularity that customers would request it for breakfast, lunch and supper! The cheese used in the recipe, Fortnum’s Vintage Reserve Somerset Cheddar, is made for Fortnum’s by fifth generation cheese makers; Barbers in Ditcheat, Somerset; a must for cheese lovers everywhere!
Corn-fed Chicken with Wild Mushrooms and Truffle Dauphinoise: A favourite of numerous patrons, the chicken is prepared by smoking a beautiful blend of Fortnum’s tea and aromatic herbs; simply delicious and wonderfully succulent.
Seared Dry Aged Iberico Beef with Cepe Mushrooms (Rissole Potatoes and Watercress): This savoury is ideal if you are craving a burst of flavour! Fortnum’s fabulous Iberico dry aged beef couples the most incredible flavour and texture.
