Region's foremost security and safety trade fair to highlight importance of safe work practices
Accidents or illness at the workplace are estimated to claim 6,300 lives daily across the globe and as many as 2.3 million annually according to the International Labour Organisation (ILO). Furthermore, as much as 337 million workplace accidents occur per year leading to extended absences from work. These stunning statistics bring into sharp focus the growing need for enhanced measures for workplace health and safety.*
Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is rapidly gaining in prominence globally as governments, private and public sector firms, factory and workshop owners, construction site managers etc, all realise the importance of scaling down the tremendous loss of manpower and workdays caused by unsafe working conditions. There is also growing awareness worldwide about the need for a safer working environment, which has only been further forcefully underscored by the recent rash of factory fires that led to tragic loss of life and property in the subcontinent.
The Middle East, with its booming real estate industry and large-scale construction projects, is also a region where OSH is of prime concern. Increasingly stringent regulations with regard to worker health and safety have led to a tremendous improvement in working conditions around the region. A wide range of OSH consultants, specialists, training experts as well as manufacturers and suppliers of protective equipment, clothing and safety systems are expected to be present in strength at Intersec 2013 – the largest and most comprehensive exhibition and conference for security, safety and fire protection in the region.
“Ensuring work safety is beneficial to both the worker and the employer and leads to enhanced levels of productivity and performance”, said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of Epoc Messe Frankfurt, organiser of Intersec. “Greater awareness about the benefits of safe working practices can cut down the number of workplace casualties tremendously. Employers who invest in training their workforce about safety measures, stand to benefit from the reduced loss caused by accidents and injuries,” he added.

Each one can be assured of a warm welcome, as well as plenty of advice on how to train their staff to reach their full potential and therefore help to improve the efficiency and performance of their organisation,” said Hasan Alaradi, Managing Director of training consultants RRC Middle East.
