Dubai, December 4, 2014 - This December, make time to visit Bloomingdale’s-Dubai and G-SHOCK’s first ever pop-up shop in the Middle East created specially for the launch of their limited edition G-SHOCK watch for UAE National Day.

A vision realized by American University of Sharjah student Noor Assal, the winning UAE National Day design is a bold, sleek G-Shock model. Majoring in Visual Communication Design, Assal used expressive typography in her design the timepiece; a watch with ‘Emirates’ written in white Arabic script across black straps.
“I love how strong and powerful words can be, and how your imagination works when you read them,” says Assal. “Another reason that I chose black and white is because of the local cultural dress – the way that women traditionally dress in black, and men in white,” she adds. “Also, the font and Arabic language is rooted in the heritage of the land.”
The stark, monochrome shades, she says, also represent a contrast between the decades of persistence endured in building the UAE and how it appears today, and the freedoms available thanks to the hard work undertaken.
The limited edition Bloomingdale’s-Dubai x G-SHOCK UAE National Day will be available in the exclusive G-SHOCK pop-up shop at Bloomingdale’s-Dubai, located in the Menswear Department on the Second Floor, The Dubai Mall from November 27, 2014, while stock lasts.
For watch collectors and fans of the Casio G-SHOCK alike, the dedicated G-SHOCK pop-up shop will remain open throughout the month of December and will feature other notable limited editions presented by G-SHOCK over the years.
“The G-SHOCK is a truly unique watch, with its best features being its unbreakable shock-resistant construction and is aimed at the young, the adventurous and fashionable. As such, we feel that Bloomingdale’s-Dubai provides the perfect platform for us to reach this audience,” says Nagai.
