Stage Set For Bigger, Brighter Light Middle East 2013 Innovative Products, Latest Trends To Be Under Spotlight At Region's Premier Lighting Technology And Design Trade Fair

Figures indicate that the upcoming edition of Light Middle East 2013, taking place from October 7th to 9th, is set to be larger both in terms of the number of exhibitors and the area occupied according to organiser Epoc Messe Frankfurt who is looking forward to a successful show.

With approximately 250 exhibitors from 23 countries participating in the upcoming exhibition, an estimated 14% increase over the 2012 edition, Light Middle East 2013 is also expected to be considerably larger in terms of space taken up, with many return exhibitors opting for larger stands than at the previous edition.

With wide support from international industry associations and regional authorities, Light Middle East's development is being driven by the growing attraction of the Middle East market for international lighting designers and manufacturers. The trade fair enjoys the support of the Emirates Green Building Council, KNX (the European association for home and building controls standards), Promus from Italy and ELCOMA (the Electrical Components Manufacturers Association of India).

Adnan Sharafi, Chairman of Emirates Green Building Council commented on the exhibition, stating: “One of the central aspects in promoting built environment sustainability is the use of efficient lighting solutions, contemporary lighting on the average accounts for approximately 18% of consumption in buildings. Roads also employ sustained lighting at night accounting for a very large portion of its operational costs, which can be significantly reduced using energy efficient lighting. Emirates Green Building Council has been working with partners across the lighting industry to highlight the need to introduce energy efficient light – both in new buildings and for retrofitting. We will continue to support events such as Light Middle East, which bring together different stakeholders in the lighting sector, and promote stronger awareness of the need to introduce energy-efficient lighting.”

In recent years Light Middle East has built a reputation for presenting a wide spectrum of the latest in lighting technology and solutions as well as delivering excellent business generation opportunities in a flourishing region.

“We have witnessed increased interest in the region which is now seen as one which is making efforts to quickly transform the way it uses energy,” said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of Epoc Messe Frankfurt. “Driven by forward-planning governments who are increasingly emphasising on energy-efficient and innovative lighting solutions, the Middle East is now firmly on the priority lists of the global lighting and design industry,” he added.

Prominent among the attractions at this year's edition will be the launch of the Future Zone, a first-of-its-kind showcase of futuristic products and technology, cutting-edge design and trends from some of the leading international manufacturers and designers. Featured in the Future Zone will be some of the latest offerings from the design geniuses amongst  GE Lighting, LEME Lighting, Osram, acdc, ERCO, iGuzzini, Trilux, linealight and LG.

Also high on the agenda for lighting industry professionals and regional trade buyers is likely to be the Light Insight Arabia conference, with its focus on the key issue of LED lighting technology. The problems and benefits associated with the migration to LED lighting solutions from conventional lighting sources will be highlighted at the conference by a series of leading speakers. This is a topic which is of high interest to buyers and developers in the region. The conference is being organised by Epoc Messe Frankfurt in association with Lux Review magazine and will take place over two days alongside Light Middle East 2013.

Global leader and renowned technology innovator LG Electronics will be among the prominent exhibitors at Light Middle East 2013. With a yearly output of 200 million LED chips, LG will showcase its highly specialized range of lighting control and management solutions integrated with building equipment such as air conditioning, heating and electricity. This makes it possible to monitor and optimise overall energy consumption of a building.

“Light Middle East is one of our important trade showcases in the Middle East market, which is right now in the process of transforming into a major one for LED Lighting installation,“ said Vinod Sivaraman, Senior Manager of LG. “We expect a large amount of interest from regional developers, lighting designers and architects in our latest product range.“

Making their debut at this year's exhibition will be NTL Lemnis from India. They will be showcasing seven product categories from the highly energy efficient Pharox range of products. The entire range is being developed for the Middle East market and includes LED Down Lights, LED Ceiling Lights, LED Flexible Strips, LED Spotlights, LED Street Lights, LED Retrofit Lamps and LED Tube Lights.

“At NTL Lemnis, it is our commitment and endeavour to provide the best technology to the global audience totally customised to their requirements. We believe that LED is the technology for the future and we use our global design and production strengths to deliver innovative solutions. We are hopeful that we will be well received in the very dynamic Middle East market”, said Arun Gupta, Global CEO, NTL Lemnis.

Light Middle East 2013 will also feature the inaugural Light Middle East Awards, designed to celebrate excellence in lighting design. The Awards will recognise some of the region's leading lighting projects and will cover a range of different categories. Nominated entries will be judged by a panel of renowned lighting design experts and the winners will be announced at a gala dinner to be held on Tuesday 8th October.

Light Middle East is the premier exhibition and conference for the lighting industry in the region and offers a comprehensive interactive  platform for manufacturers, architects, designers, consultants, engineers, construction companies, hospitality industry professionals, government officials and more.
