A-MAP has UAE Fleet Vehicles in its Sights as Economy Picks Up

Autoparts Organisation Says it will Benefit from Burgeoning Fleet Car Sales after a successful presence at Automechanika Dubai, 2013

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The UAE's resurgent economy is fuelling the sales of fleet cars – a phenomenon that will provide a host of business opportunities for automotive service organisations and spare parts distributors, says a spokesperson for A-MAP, one of the country's leading vehicle accessories providers.

Asad Badami, Managing Director of A-MAP, was speaking on the final day the 11th edition of Automechanika Dubai, which opened on Thursday at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The region's largest autoparts exhibition attracted around 25,000 attendees who visited the more than 1,320 exhibitors.

'Dubai's economy has turned the corner, with the real estate sector growing considerably over the past year, oil prices remaining high and tourism continuing to bring in large sums of money,” said Badami. “Confidence is running high and the sales of fleet vehicles are reflecting this. Al Futtaim is a typical indication – its Toyota division has recently sold 1,100 vehicles to Dubai Taxi Corporation and its Honda division is aiming to increase 2013 fleet sales by 50 per cent,” he added.

Badami, whose organisation had a 189 square metre, two storey stand at this year's Automechanika, says that the burgeoning market in fleet car sales will provide fertile ground for those companies in the vehicle spare parts and automotive services industries, because the vehicles' day-to-day road use tends to exact a greater toll on their components.

“Fleet motors inevitably undergo much more wear and tear than individually owned vehicles. They put in more miles and are often driven more harshly by drivers who wouldn't dream of treating their own personal cars the same way, so parts need replacing more frequently,” said Badami. “Taxi cabs are a case in point - each cab in Dubai travels an average of 500km a day, which is considerably more than the average privately owned sedan,” he added.

A-MAP, which is headquartered in Dubai, operates a network of branch offices in across the UAE, Asia, Africa, and North America. The organisation distributes car components that include tyres, shock absorbers, batteries and brake pads from leading brand names such as Solite, Fenix, Asimco and RBI. It is hoping to replicate the success it had last year at Automechanika show.

“Auromechanika 2012 saw us picking up several new corporate and retail customers from across the region. This year, we made a number of inroads into the supply of quality automotive components to fleet car operators,” said Badami.
