|Fortinet Appoints Alain Penel as Regional Vice President for the Middle East region|
Dubai, UAE – June 10 2013 – Fortinet® (NASDAQ: FTNT) - a leader in high-performance network security – today announced the appointment of Alain Penel as Regional Vice President for the Middle East region. Based in Dubai, Alain Penel is responsible for driving Fortinet's aggressive growth plan in the region, through a business focus on the high-end market segment and the expansion of its channel network and its regional team.
Actively present on the UAE market since 2008, Fortinet has established itself as a leading security vendor in that country and in the broader Middle East region. Fortinet aims at pursuing its growth in the high-end customer segment across the Middle East region, building on the success gained in segments such as government, finance and service providers, for which Fortinet already has a strong installed base. To that end, Fortinet has increased its local presence with the recruitment of additional sales and pre-sales resources in Pakistan, UAE and Saudi Arabia in the last months. Fortinet plans to continue its investment in local resources in those countries in addition to Qatar, Kuwait and Levant this year.
In parallel, Fortinet is also looking to strengthen its channel network across all countries in the Middle East region to accelerate its penetration of the SMB market segment. This effort will be driven through the recruitment of Gold and Silver partners and the increase of the number of Fortinet Resident Engineers to improve the quality of its customer service.
“The Middle East represents a strong business opportunity for Fortinet. That's why I want to further invest in the region by growing the team there. Alain has the experience, energy and leadership required to lead that effort. With his strong sales, management and market expertise, I'm confident that he can help our local team comfort the success gained in the high-end while setting up the channel for establishing Fortinet as leading provider in the SMB market as well,” said Patrice Perche, vice president of international sales and support at Fortinet.
Before joining Fortinet as Regional Vice President for Middle East region, Alain Penel has spent more than 25 years in sales, business development and management positions in organizations like Cisco, Bay Networks, Digital Equipment and Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise. From 2003 to 2010, he held there different positions as Sales Director Networking for the MEA and India region, then Enterprise Vice President for France, leading a team of 150 people and growing the Enterprise business significantly. From 2010 to 2013, his last position was Vice President Sales and Support for the Middle East and Africa region, through which he was in charge for the sales strategy and growth for Enterprise Solutions and for supporting Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise's broader business strategy.
“I am very excited about being now part of Fortinet and to be responsible for driving the acceleration of its development in the Middle East region” said Alain Penel, Regional Vice President for Middle East region at Fortinet. “Fortinet has gained strong success in many countries of the region thanks to its high-performance and flexible technology as well as the breadth of its solutions portfolio. Working closely with our local team, my objective is now to extend that success to other countries or market segments within the Middle East. We definitely have the technology and people to make it happen.”
