• Pouring for Main Ceiling, Pier and Beam Foundation Complete
• Dubai's Largest Mosque Accommodating 35,000 Worshippers Scheduled for Opening in March 2014

Dubai-UAE: 2 June, 2013 – Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) today announced construction work for the Middle East's first eco-friendly mosque – Khalifa Al Tajer Mosque - has made 25 per cent headway with concrete pouring for the main ceiling, as well as pier and beam foundation completed in scheduled time.

Pouring for the mosque's minarets up to a height of 23 metres, and the pouring of concrete slab in the ablution block have also been accomplished. Additionally, the electrical transformer room is ready and set for delivery to Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). The bricks for the outer walls of the mosque are also 40 per cent complete, while the internal plaster in the Imam's accommodation block is under progress.

Set for completion by March 2014, the Khalifa Al Tajer mosque will emerge as Dubai's largest place of worship with its facility to accommodate more than 3,500 worshippers.
Commenting on the developments, His Excellency Tayeb Al Rais, Secretary General of AMAF, said: “We are delighted to mark scheduled progress on the region's first green mosque that will also set itself apart as one of Dubai's most recognisable landmarks. Following the successful completion of this iconic initiative, AMAF aims to integrate green building standards into a large number of mosques in Dubai to make them eco-friendly and thereby contribute to Dubai's long term sustainable development plans.”
Located on a 105,000 sq. feet plot near the Clock Tower in Deira, the mosque will take shape over an area of 45,000 sq. feet. Nearly 60,000 sq. feet of the development has been allocated for landscaping purposes. The mosque is set to feature the latest green technologies including solar panels and a roof garden for heat insulation. It will also incorporate techniques for recycling and purifying worshippers' ablution water for irrigation and washroom supply.
