The eatery to offer holistic, sustainable ingredients, recipes and cooking practices
Dubai, UAE – 23 October: The Change Initiative, a UAE-based sustainability venture, unveiled its cafe today, ‘The Taste Initiative' – an eatery that encompasses sustainability holistically. The cafe offers sustainable food options from a variety of local and healthy produce targeted to a sustainable lifestyle.
The Taste Initiative is open as per the store timings and serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner as well as light snacks and exquisite coffees. The restaurant menu includes a variety of cuisines and healthy options, including a variety of granola options served with yoghurt, scrumptious eggs and omelettes, hearty soups, fresh salads, delicious quiches and sandwiches, flavoursome noodles, innovative pizzas, delectable breads, mouth-watering desserts, and exceptional signature main courses.
Gundeep Singh, CEO and Founder, The Change Initiative, said: “We believe that for restaurants, sustainability extends beyond health food, therefore, we are very pleased to spread the message of sustainable living further through The Taste Initiative. This restaurant utilises many of the sustainable solutions available in our store and demonstrates our desire to practise what we preach with regards to sustainability, and showcases how every small change can have an enormous impact. The Taste Initiative menu is focused on fresh and healthy, local produce. The menu options are organic where possible, however, organic does not always equate sustainable and therefore organic ingredients have sometimes been forsaken for more sustainable ingredients.”

The Taste Initiative encompasses all elements of sustainability, and utilising products which are not harmful for the family. Energy saving appliances are used in the kitchen, such as the induction oven, LEED certified refrigerators, and LED lighting for the whole restaurant. The waste produced from the restaurant is recycled and a dewatering device is also used to extract water from food waste and therefore reducing the volume of the waste, which is then composted in Bokashi bins. The need for chemicals is eliminated in the entire restaurant by using plant-based Ecover cleaning products, and the Hoshizaki ROX machine ionizes water for chemical-free washing and sanitizing.
The Change Initiative caters to consumers and corporations who are interested in making environmentally responsible purchases for their home or in the workplace from energy saving light bulbs and eco-friendly detergents to sustainable furniture, water fixtures and other innovative, technological solutions.
The Taste Initiative is located in The Change Initiative marketplace in Barsha 1, the cafe opening times are from 8 am until 9 pm from Sunday till Wednesday, and from 9 am to 10 pm from Thursday to Saturday.
