Regent Street seeks talent launching – ‘your magic minute’ – a short film competition


Regent Street launches a film competition for budding photographers, artists, performers and extroverts or for anyone that has ever dreamt of being a filmmaker, and is seeking an opportunity to get started.  The content must be from Regent Street and could include; fashion, shopping, entertainment, food, beauty, architecture or could simply capture the entrants performing with Regent Street as the backdrop.  Short filmmaking is enjoying a renaissance and with cameras on mobile phones, the great thing is anyone can shoot a film personal to them and share it.

Regent Street is one of the leading fashion and lifestyle shopping destinations in the world visited by thousands of UK and international visitors every day.  Its vast selection of international flagship stores and hotels are complemented by two food quarters, Heddon Street and Swallow Street; home to a collection of top quality restaurants.  The competition also includes film shot at the Regent Street Quadrant, home to some great restaurants, coffee shops and fashion retailers.

The perfect time to film might be during Summer Streets, a series of traffic-free events held over four Sundays in July on Regent Street (6, 13, 20, 27 July).  Entrants can benefit from the opportunity to freely stand in the centre of the street to capture the architecture and beautiful scape of Regent Street, or capture friends or family performing on this stunning urban stage, without having to worry about buses and cars getting in the way.  Each of the Sundays will host themed events useful for inspiration; gardens, food, fashion and on the last Sunday, soon to be announced, there will be a spectacular activity.

Film your content on Regent Street, edit it to 60 seconds, and up load it to YouTube.   Then post the link on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest or Google+ with #RegentStreet and #MagicMinute. By using the hashtags entrants can see their post appear on 24/7 Regent Street’s social media hub.  The best entries will be shortlisted and put to public vote on Regent Street TV via Facebook, YouTube and Pinterest in August. The winner will receive £2,000 to spend in Regent Street stores.

The judging panel will be confirmed shortly.
