A perfect marriage of Swiss precision and Neapolitan creativity gave rise to Philip Watch, the oldest brand of Swiss Made watches present in Italy. Elegance, details, style and creativity on the one hand, precision, technology and innovation on the other, these are the characteristics that have made Philip Watch a brand that has always offered a high-quality product.
The presence of the Swiss in Naples dates all the way back to the 17th century. Soldiers, architects, merchants, industrialists, bankers, scientists, and craftsmen have all made their personal contributions to the development and the history of the city. A report dated 1898 reveals that in the city of Naples alone there were some 1200 Swiss citizens in residence.
In 1858, in the Swiss Canton of Jura, François Philippe began producing watches which he later elaborated in Naples, where he subsequently went to live. Some of the most important events in the history of Philip Watch have been carefully recorded by the journalist Augusto Veroni, a leading expert on watches at the international level, to reconstruct the processes from which the watches themselves took shape leaving in its trail a glorious reputation.
Massimo Carraro, the Group CEO, said, 'We are happy to exhibit watches from our long history that will shed light on the unique and successful combination of Swiss technology and Italian design. The museum pays tribute to the ingenuity and workmanship of our predecessors, and adds credibility to the present. Philip Watch has journeyed through the past two centuries. We would like our customers to be aware of the fact that the Philip Watch they wear has a rich history.'
Models, drawings, images, and catalogues have been collected over the years, meticulously analyzed and pieced together with the dual goal of reconstructing the enormous heritage of a brand that has its origins in Italy and provide an understanding of the design and technical details that go into the creation of Philip Watches.
