Dubai, UAE, 13 June 2021: The Emirates Literature Foundation’s search for the nation’s best young story writers has begun, with the launch of its annual creative writing competition for students, the Story Writing Competition.
A fixture on the academic calendar, the competition runs in Arabic and in English and is open to full-time students in schools, colleges and universities in the GCC. It is divided into age-specific categories: 11 and under, 12-14, 15-17 and 18-25. Dubai – 07 June 2021: Dubai Customs’ Jebel Ali Center, which operates under the Sea Customs Center Management, completed 952,232 transactions between January and April 2021, growing 71% from 557,318 in the corresponding period in 2020. The value of goods in the four months hit AED298.3 billion, and volume reached 38.848 million tons.
With the help and cooperation of the Customs Intelligence Department, Jebel Ali Customs Center thwarted all smuggling attempts in the first third of 2021, with 64 seizures made through 75,434 inspection operations. Containers scanned using x-ray scanners reached 93,492 containers, compared to 51 seizures, 73,852 inspection operations and 76,188 containers in the first third of 2020.

Dubai – 5 June 2021: Following Dubai Customs strategic plan in 2021, which aims to build competencies and enhance the skills and experience of its human resources, the Customs Training Center at Dubai Customs organized 160 training workshops in Q1, 2021. The training workshops included 139 customs specialized workshops, 19 on administrative skills and two awareness workshops, with a total of 4,000 training hours that targeted 1,079 employees.

Dubai Municipality has planted more than 200,000 trees during the last three years. The emirate was decorated with green plants and flowering trees, with the aim of giving aesthetic beauty to the emirate’s roads and parks, using agricultural beautification elements.
The plants used included Delonix regia trees, and the Poinciana trees or what is known as the Flame trees, whose beauty blooms in the summer, adding its fiery colors such as orange mixed with red, which adds another beauty to Dubai.
