One lucky winner will be sent by Reed Exhibitions to showcase his/her work at JCK Las Vegas 2016
Abu Dhabi, April 1, 2015: On the occasion of its 23rd edition, the International Jewelry and Watch Show (JWS) Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with UAE’s leading jewelry artist Azza Al Qubaisi announced the third edition of UAE’s National Jewelry Design Competition for 2016 to be open.
The competition will be a part of the exhibition, which is scheduled to be held from the 5th of May 2015 until the 9th of May at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
The Awards present a great opportunity for up and coming jewelry designers – professionals or amateurs - who are over 18 years of age and either Emirati nationals or residents in the UAE, to showcase their talent and be mentored and inspired by the best in the business. Furthermore, it is a significant step towards promoting the capability of the Emirati jewelry market in the region.
“At Reed Exhibitions, we are committed to supporting, promoting and celebrating the abundant talent that can be found here within the UAE. Ebda’a and JWS is an important step towards the fulfillment of what we see as our duty towards this great nation”, said Rania Elmaghraby, Show Director at Reed Exhibitions, the organizer of the event.
In its third year, the awards are offering three times the reward and opportunity. The competition will be judged by a distinguished jury of four individuals: Ms Muna Al-Hadad, Chairman and Jewelry Designer – Ghenej, Mr Rafif Tarabishi, General Manager – Al- Masaood Jewelry and Jamil Dimachkie, General Manager – Amwaj Jewelry; with Ms Azza Al Qubaisi, Artist and Founder - ARJMST, as the over-all mentor.
The participants will be competing in three categories – day wear/casual, evening wear and contemporary interpretation of traditional jewelry. Each of these categories will be sponsored by one jury member, who will mentor and help the participants prepare their pieces for the next JWS.
Winners from each category will receive the Awards trophy designed by artist Azza Al Qubaisi along with certificates of graduation from IGI School of Gemology. They will also have the opportunity to display their designs during JWS 2015. This opportunity will be extended to those nominated for each category as well. Winners will also be featured across media platforms via Ebda’a’s media partners.
The three winners from each category will also get to attend the Professional Jewelry Designing Course by the IGI. The progress of the winners at these courses will then be monitored on the basis of personality, potential growth and creativity, with the aim to choose one main winner.
The main winner will be flown to Las Vegas, courtesy the organizers Reed Exhibitions, to take part in and showcase his/her work at JCK 2016 – the jewelry industry’s premiere trade show worldwide. The winner’s designs displayed at JCK 2016 will also be officially certified by IGI.
Interested applicants can get all the details of the competition including the application form from the JWS website, www.jws.ae. The last date for submitting the application is 20th April 2015.
