Banana Republic takes you on a modern journey into summer inspired by an open road trip

This season, the open road beckons and the new Banana Republic answers with a collection inspired by the palette and texture of the desert as the brand continues to celebrate the new Creative Director, Marissa Webb’s amazing sense of style and personal mantra, “You don’t always have to know where you’re going, just enjoy the journey.” 

The Summer collection was recently unveiled at a stylish event hosted at Level 42, Media One Hotel, in Dubai. The venue was converted into an edgy, urban chic show room where Dubai fashionistas gathered to catch a glimpse of the brand’s new look through the lens of  Marisa Webb’s creativity, a first for the brand.   

Inspired by a life full of exploration, the summer collection is imbued with softly worn, well-loved fabrics in hues of olive, golden orchid and soft and indigo blues – perfect whether you are indulging your summer wanderlust by travelling, or by enjoying local experiences, it's all about journey.  With the aim of positioning Banana Republic as the destination for modern American style, Webb has created versatile Summer wardrobe signature pieces that range from utility blazers/jackets, oversized tunic shapes to soft dresses. 

Webb and her team have combed through its treasure trove of iconic pieces and reinterpreted them. The collection was born on the road, when Marissa and her design team took a road trip to East Hampton and the beaches of Sagaponack in New York.

The carefree spirit and easy living on the beaches of Sagaponack also saw a hint of shades of blues and neutrals together with intricate textures, such as, parachute silks, rope yarns, straw and linen in the collection, which are perfect for a Summer retreat.

“Whatever your journey becomes – a weekend in East Hampton or on an adventure in the Mojave – we have designed a Summer collection of easy “getaway” pieces that are detailed and built to last. We strongly believe in a “360 degree lifestyle” approach to dressing and you’ll find that in both our casual and tailored collections,” says Marissa Webb. “Versatility is key for both women and men—pieces that can be styled in many ways or worn for many different occasions.  It's all about the small details that make it unique. It’s fun seeing how people style the collection their way, which makes it personal to them.”
